ecoSPEARS Featured in this Year's United Nation Sustainable Development Goals Action Zone

2020-09-22 09:00:00 - Orlando, Florida - (PR Distribution™)

ecoSPEARS, a Florida-based cleantech venture with NASA-developed environmental technologies, will be featured at this year's United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Zone. The UN SDG Action Zone is an opportunity for people worldwide to discuss sustainable practices and solutions to attain global SDGs.

The UN SDG Action Zone will be taking place, virtually, this year on September 22-24, 2020. Leaders across industry sectors will engage in thoughtful dialogue and debate to solve the most pressing issues facing humanity. The SDGs are an international set of goals adopted by all United Nations members to improve the health and well-being of people and the planet by 2030.

Sergie Albino, CEO of ecoSPEARS, will speak about his previous work experience at NASA Kennedy Space Center and the innovative principles he has carried onto ecoSPEARS. Albino and the team are reimagining a world where every person has clean air, clean food, and clean air. ecoSPEARS' mission is to protect human health and the environment by ushering in the carbonless future of environmental cleanup. ecoSPEARS is on a mission to clean persistent toxins from the world's waterways and oceans by utilizing green and sustainable remediation technology that is cost-effective and eco-friendly. Albino worked as an aerospace engineer contractor at NASA and helped prototype SPEARS. SPEARS can absorb toxins such as PCBs and dioxins, "like a sponge," removing the persistent toxins from contaminated sediment - forever. Recognizing this transformative technology's potential, he co-founded ecoSPEARS with entrepreneur Ian Doromal and former NASA colleague, and inventor of SPEARS technology, Dr. Phil Maloney. In his talk, Sergie seeks to convey a message to young aspiring social entrepreneurs and STEM professionals that innovative, "outside the box" thinking can change the world.

In 2015, the UN published its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda to be met by 2030. These goals highlight the need for sustainable solutions to the world's most pressing problems, including; clean water and sanitation, good health, well-being, zero hunger, and responsible consumption and production. ecoSPEARS's vision of accessible clean water - directly ties in with several of these SDGs. However, Albino realizes that ecoSPEARS cannot do it alone. "The 17th SDG is focused on forming strategic partnerships to ensure all the goals achieved. We are proud partners of NASA and the United Nations. Together, along with other purpose-driven organizations, we can achieve the goal of eliminating PCBs and other persistent organic pollutants (POPs) by 2030," said Sergie Albino.
