While serving the healthcare industry as the Chief Clinical Officer, Melissa has certainly proven herself as an expert in the field. She is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only as Partner, Co-Founder & Chief Clinical Officer for Trio Healthcare LLC, but in every prior position that she has served. Currently, Melissa oversees 23 Senior Care Facilities and also provides care as their Corporate Compliance Officer. She was appointed by the Governor of VA to a 4-year term on the State Board of Health, and she has also been a member of the Governors pandemic task force since 2020.
Melissa’s impressive repertoire of prior roles have included Corporate Director of Clinical Services III for Consulate Health Care, Vice President of Clinical Operations for Sun Healthcare Group, Vice President of Clinical Management for Sava Senior Care, Sr. Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory and Corporate Compliance for AdCare Health Systems, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations for Reliant Senior Care and Vice President of Physician Implementation for Vohra Post-Acute Physicians.
Her key responsibilities include overseeing the Clinical, Regulatory and Compliance operations of the company with a strong focus in quality care, positive regulatory outcomes and clinical reimbursement processes. She improves performance at clinically underperforming facilities and assists centers with open plans of corrections and provisional licensing.
Melissa earned her Master of Science degree in Health/Health Care Administration/ Management from Kennedy Western University. Presently, she is an advisor for the Nurse Executive Council, Member of the CMS Regulatory Committee, and on the Board of Directors with the Virginia Health Care Association.
As Founder of the Non-Profit Organization LILY (Ladies inspiring Ladies and Youth), Melissa is successfully creating and managing a faith based inspirational organization that provides women with resources for Economic Empowerment, self-improvement and motivation to be positive role models and inspire other women and youth.
Throughout her remarkable career Melissa has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. Melissa was exclusively interviewed on TIP Radio, was featured on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square, NYC, and she graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She was previously honored as an Empowered Woman of the Year for 2020 and attended IAOTP’s 2021 Annual Awards Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Melissa was named Top Chief Clinical Officer of the Year for 2019 and received this award at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. She was featured in Marquis Who’s Who and listed in the American Registry as a prominent business professional. Melissa is also very active in her community and sits on numerous healthcare advisory boards.
Looking back, Melissa attributes her success to her perseverance, mentors she has had the honor of working alongside and leading with passion through all of her business endeavors. When not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. For the future, she hopes her effective leadership skills will leave an impact in the healthcare industry.
