Dr. Bernard Tandler selected as Top Science Educator of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH – 08-14-2018 (Press Release Jet) — Bernard Tandler, Ph.D, Professor of Biological Sciences School of Dental Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University was just recently selected as Top Science Educator of the Year for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the industry.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. With over 6 decades of professional experience as a seasoned and trusted Science Educator, Dr. Tandler has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.  He has demonstrated success not only as a Professor of Biological Science for Case Western Reserve University, and Affiliate Professor of Oral Biology for the University of Washington, but Dr. Tandler has demonstrated success in all past positions he has ever held.  His impressive repertoire of prior roles includes Professor and Acting Chairman of Oral Biology for Case Western Reserve University, Assistant Professor of Cell Biology for Cornell University, Associate for Sloan Kettering Institute for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Senior Research Scientist for Texas Tech University, Visiting Professor for Kyushu Dental University, Universita di Cagliari, and University of Copenhagen, Consultant for the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation and was an Instructor of Anatomy for New York University. Dr. Tandler received his B.S. from Brooklyn College in 1955, his AM from Columbia University in 1957,  his PhD from Cornell University in 1961 and his Honorary DMD from the Universita di Cagliari in 1997.  The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated that “Choosing Dr. Tandler for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.  He is brilliant, his list of accomplishments and accolades are beyond impressive, he is active in numerous organizations and affiliations, he was exactly what we were looking for.  We know we will be seeing more outstanding things from this man and hope to spend time with him at the gala.”Through his illustrious career, Dr. Tandler has been active in his community and recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the science industry. He has received many awards, accolades and has been featured in numerous publications multiple years in a row such as Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.  For 2019, Dr. Tandler is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).  For 2018 selected as Top Science Educator of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).  In 1999, he was the Recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award for Dental Research by the International Association for Dental Research.  In 1992 he was the recipient of the Robert E. Kennedy Award for Academic Freedom, Ohio Chapter, AAUP, and in 1981 he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Brooklyn College.  Dr. Tandler is also a member of the American Association of Anatomists; American Society for Cell Biology; Microscopy Society of America; the Japanese Society for Oral Biology; The Japanese Association of Anatomists; the International Association for Dental Research; The American Society of Mammalogists; Honorary Member of the Italian Society of Anatomy and Histology and Sigma Xi.Aside from his successful career as a Professor, Dr. Tandler is also a published Author, Contributor to book chapters, Articles and Professional Journals.  He was Guest Editor for the European Journal of Morphology, Associate Editor for the Anatomical Record, Guest Editor for Microscopy Research and Technique, and co-author of Mitochondria.Looking back, Dr. Tandler attributes his success to his experience, education, mentors he has had along the way and staying passionate in all his endeavors.  Dr. Tandler says he has been blessed, he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning.  When he is not working Dr. Tandler enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and the arts.
