FILOLI NOW OPEN FOR WINTER SEASON

There is a peacefulness to Filoli’s early Winter Garden that has never been seen or felt by visitors, until now. From now until February 18, the country estate is opening its gates and providing many new behind-the-scenes opportunities in a setting unique in the Bay Area. To enrich your experience and increase access to this amazing gem, Filoli’s offerings are planned around one central theme: Filoli Unlocked.  

Winter 2018 At a Glance

• Conservation Roadshow – In cooperation with the Bay Area Art Conservation Guild, Filoli is hosting a Conservation Roadshow the weekend of January 27-28. Dozens of conservation specialists will be giving expert advice and practical tips on preserving, conserving, and/or restoring your treasured artistic, historic, scientific, or cultural possessions. While free, informative programs will be offered (with paid general admission to Filoli), one private 10-minute consultation with a conservator is available for $25. 
• Specialty Tours – This all-new lineup of tours reveals the eclectic characteristics that make Filoli a cherished resource for American garden design and country house architecture. Specialty Tours are offered about any of the following topics: Camellias, Architecture, Garden Objects, and/or Greenhouses. 
• Room Talks – A variety of 10-15 informal Room Talks are now offered in the historic House throughout the day, giving our guests a chance to learn more about the history of each room, such as everyday life in the Kitchen. 
• Black & White Photography Exhibition: Filoli Unlocked – Come view this display of photographs at Filoli’s Visitor and Education Center featuring gates, keys, doors, and hidden and historic architecture.
• Valentine’s Tea – Save the date! Have a lovely afternoon with a special someone, February 14 or 17. The menu for this Valentine’s Tea includes a Filoli Rose Tea with a traditional tiered tray of delicious finger sandwiches, freshly-made scones, and indulgent Valentine’s Day treats, served alongside Filoli preserves and clotted cream.
• Adult Classes – Class registrations are now open! Check out the new 2018 Winter/Spring Class Catalog featuring classes such as Filoli’s Horticulture Certificate Series. Members can take advantage of a 20% discount on all classes. 

January is Membership Month

The value of the Filoli Membership Program continues to grow with the new year. Members have long enjoyed unlimited, free admission to Filoli. For the month of January, members have had the added pleasure of being able to share the beauty of Filoli with a guest for free with every visit! The on-site museum store, the Clock Tower Shop, is also reserving member-exclusive products, such as a specially-packaged soap set featuring art from Filoli’s historic collection.

Filoli invites the rich and diverse global community to share in the magical, pristine season of this regional treasure. “There is nothing like the stillness of winter in a garden with the beauty of bursting bud-break under the surface,” says Kara Newport, Chief Executive Officer, “it is truly a magical time to immerse in the estate from the stillness of a winter garden to behind-the-scenes peaks at the greenhouses to our all-new Conservation Roadshow.”
