LAREDO, TX – 01-03-2018 (Press Release Jet) — During the last decade the medical cannabis galaxy in the United States as well in the rest of the world has come a long way and now somehow it has managed to make its way into the Heart of Texas.

Consequently, Texans are now the proud owners of their first medical cannabis dispensary which, by the way, is scheduled to open on December 5th. The medical cannabis dispensary is the first of its kind in Texas, and is located in Schulenburg, Texas; a small town between Austin and San Antonio. Additionally, for the first time in state history, a crop of legal cannabis plants is being grown in the Austin metro in a 7,200 square foot premises.

The opening of this dispensary takes place at a time that a great amount of industries business giants are placing a bet in the medical cannabis world. Such is the case of one of the most successful beer companies in the world, Corona beer. Corona’s parent company, Constellation Brands, decided to release a weed – infused beer and their main objective is to roll out the products in countries that have federal law approval, like in the case of Canada that is the second country in the world to have the privilege of having full legalized recreational and medicinal cannabis. Studies show that 27 percent of beer drinkers are starting to buy cannabis instead of beer in legal states.

In addition, a good old Texas boy has created his own medical cannabis brand and, of course, he needs no introduction “Willy Nelson” a long-time cannabis supporter. And more to the point, Michael J. Fox and his foundation are fighting and supporting medical cannabis patients to push congress and the president’s administration to accept medical cannabis as an option for pain. The Michael J Fox Foundation collaborates with many groups like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Epilepsy foundation, US Pain Foundation and many more in the battle for medical cannabis therapy.

On the other hand, a study made by the America Legion found that 82 percent of veteran’s support research and legalization of cannabis, because even though it’s legal in 29 states, VA hospitals do not provide medical cannabis as an option. Many veteran patients are coping with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), this is why VA secretary David Shulkin was interested in looking in to how cannabis can help veterans relieve their condition.

As a matter of fact or as a point of information, most of the people in Texas still think that the dispensary in Schulenburg will be an illegal entity, but is it true?

Well to answer all these questions and to educate people on present Texas medical cannabis laws (like SB339) a local Marine Veteran has started an educational center to teach people how to cultivate, dispense and complete the cannabis oil extraction process. His name is Brandon Pharr out of Laredo Texas, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 2005-2009 and deployed once to Iraq during his enlistment. For the last ten years Brandon has been providing employment in the hospitality industry in the community of Laredo, Texas. Now instead of defending his country he wishes to fight for better laws and for a better quality of life for the patients of the state of Texas. Particularly, for those that are coming back from overseas with PTSD and other ailments and will refuse to join the ranks of those risking their lives again by being prescribed opioid medication. “This is of particular importance to me, since I spent tens months of my life suffering the ravages of a horrible war while deployed in Iraq. I want to see another form of medication being prescribed. Too many veterans are suffering from the consequences of this opioid epidemic that is going on in the United States,” says Brandon.

To continue his project, Brandon decided to be a part of the Pharmacology University family (a Delaware corporation) by purchasing one of their educational franchises for South Texas which will operate under the name South Texas Academy of Cannabis Science.Pharmacology University is a leading institution and pioneer in providing educational programs for the new and emerging Medicinal Cannabis Industry for the past ten years. They aim to continue promoting the importance of education in the entire community of doctors and health professionals, social sciences, biologists, chemists, lawyers, as well as patients, farmers, businessmen, legislators amongst others. “After successful courses in Austin, El Paso, Dallas, Miami, Puerto Rico, Arkansas and Colombia we are very excited about our new educational projects and it is time to extend them to other areas in the community”, as stated by Dr. Barbara Collazo, National Director of Professional Services, Pharmacology University.

Today Brandon is trading his rifle in for books, education and classrooms in which he feels that responsible training and education will help veterans and patients to have a better quality of life and obtain better paying jobs than the ones they are sadly returning to as well he wants to train people from all walks of life to enjoy amazing job opportunities and/or to build great careers in the medical cannabis field. Nowadays the cannabis industry is providing a lot of jobs, people can find them instantly anywhere in the United States. Important reports show that by 2020 the legal cannabis market will create more than a quarter of a million jobs and this is being reflected in online employment agencies that are looking for qualified personnel and they offer hundreds of thousands of cannabis related jobs. A good example is WeedHire.com which offers more than 240,000 employment opportunities on their website nationwide, another cannabis online platform called 420careers.com offers more than 16,876 jobs and the state of California, with the oldest cannabis market, the employment opportunities are more than 40,000 – 80,000 jobs. In addition, countries like Canada offers more than 150,000 jobs. For this reason, Brandon wishes to providing education to Dispensary Technicians, Cultivators, Oil Extraction Specialists, Managers, Entrepreneurs and anyone wishing to partake in the incredibly financially rewarding field of the medical cannabis world.

The course prepares students with time tested techniques that even though will not allow cannabis materials into the classroom, will still provide for a comprehensive study on each one of the different fields of the industry, it is the first of its kind classroom style education in Laredo, Texas. It is a 12 week course every Saturday for three hours with flexible schedules so people can take classes at different times.
