AirVūz Announces 2021 Drone Video of the Year

2022-02-02 12:00:00 - United States - (PR Distribution™)

Airūz, the premier video sharing platform for drone videos and photography, is excited to announce “The Juice - Cinematic FPV Reel”  by AirVuz content creator Reme Morales as the winner of the 2021 Drone Video of the Year contest, sponsored by Catalyst Machineworks and championship drone pilot Paul Nurkkala

AirVūz has held a yearly contest to celebrate the best in drone cinematography, with the nominees selected from the content uploaded to its video sharing platform. This year’s twenty nominees consisted of the twelve winners of the AirVūz Drone Video of the Month contests in 2021, as well as eight ‘wild card’ nominees that were selected by the contest sponsors from videos uploaded to the site between January 1, 2021 - January 15, 2022.

The winning video is a reel which captures some of Morales’ best footage from his first year as a FPV (First-Person View) drone pilot. The film features a series of landscape/cityscape shots from around the world, mixed with incredible dynamic chase sequences involving motocross, paragliders, and more. The piece also includes a series of shots flying over the nearly empty streets and diving the vacant skyscrapers of New York City during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in the early Spring of 2020.

For winning the 2021 AirVūz Drone Video of the Year contest, Morales will be awarded a Money Shot Whoop Lifter drone ($3499 USD value), sponsored by Catalyst Machineworks and NURK, both prominent names in the FPV community.

"When we saw Reme's reel it blew us away,” said Neill Whiteley, Co-owner of Catalyst Machineworks. “We could not be happier with the AirVūz community's choice for the 2021 Drone Video of the Year. We are super stoked our Moneyshot WhoopLifter is going into the hands of such a skilled pilot and artistically talented individual. Pilots like Reme are what pushes our beloved FPV forward into new territory once thought impossible. FPV has a bright future! We thank AirVūz for organizing this fantastic contest and Paul Nurkkala for co-sponsoring it with us. Finally, we extend a big thanks to all those participants who entered and those in the AirVūz community who voted."

“I am so excited to see this drone going to someone with such a creative eye,” said Paul Nurkkala, also a contest sponsor, as well as a professional pilot and 2018 Drone Racing League World Champion. “I think that cinelifters and whoop lifters are what are going to push forward the next way of creativity in FPV filmmaking, and I think Reme is one of the pilots that will be out there at the forefront pushing the envelope of our unique artform. I CANNOT wait to see him win drone video of the year for 2022, but have it be shot with this big boy.”

“We’re thrilled to once again celebrate the best of the best in cinematic drone content, shared from our community of users around the world, in an annual contest,” said Mike Israel, founder and CEO of AirVūz. “We are proud to host an immense amount of talent in our global community, and we were thrilled to be able to collaborate with Catalyst Machineworks and Paul Nurkkala to celebrate the creativity and flying expertise represented by these drone pilots.”

All videos uploaded by the community of AirVūz registered content creators from January 1, 2021 through January 15, 2022 were eligible for consideration for the 2021 Drone Video of the Year contest. All registered members of the AirVuz community were eligible to vote to pick the winning video. For more information on the contest, please visit https://www.airvuz.com/drone-video-of-the-year
