Local businesses are coming together to help Tampa residents start the new year off healthy with a FREE Wellness Festival and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, December 29th from 8:00AM – 3:00PM. The first annual Tampa Holiday 5K & Wellness Festival will be held at Al Lopez Park and is open to all ages to attend, FREE, with a small fee to participate in the 5K.
“The idea isn’t to focus on raising awareness for a single disease,” said organizer Pete Sessa. “But rather to focus on preventing all disease by encouraging and empowering people to live a healthy lifestyle. And what better time to celebrate healthy living than right before the new year in the Florida sunshine!”
Businesses sponsoring the event include wellness centers, fitness and yoga studios, nutrition shops, healthy food vendors, medical marijuana companies and more.
“We are thrilled to welcome six Florida medical marijuana companies and even more hemp companies will be coming out to help educate the public on the health benefits of a very misunderstood plant,” added Sessa.
Race participants pay a small fee and receive a T-shirt, race bib, water bottle, hat, plus complementary entry and bandanna for their dog.
