The Law Offices of Blaine Barrilleaux, a personal injury law firm located in Lafayette and Metairie, recently created a one-time $500 scholarship opportunity for one student who is enrolled or pursuing enrollment at an accredited college or university.
In many cases, students are unable to attend college due to financial barriers. This scholarship is intended to alleviate some of the financial burdens many students face and provide financial assistance to one student whose goal is to further their knowledge through higher education.
The law firm is committed to serving its community and sees the scholarship as one way they can continue to give back. Education is a vitally important cause to Blaine Barrilleaux and his staff because it furthers a young person’s knowledge and contributes to the development of an overall stronger community.
“A successful community benefits everybody,” said Blaine Barrilleaux, who understands how education can impact a student’s life.
Barrilleaux is an active member of the Lafayette community. In addition to offering the scholarship opportunity, he serves on the board of the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Foundation (RCAF). He has been on the board for five years and on the main board for four. He enjoys serving the RCAF and knows that giving back to his community “comes full circle,” Barrilleaux said.
Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship must submit a short bio/essay no less than 300 words that explains why he or she should receive the scholarship. Any extracurricular activities should also be included. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be involved in at least one extracurricular activity, and be enrolled or pursuing enrollment at a four-year accredited college or university. Clients and firm employees are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
