MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – 09-25-2018 (PRDistribution.com) —

Mexico-based activity operator, The Traveling Beetle, now offers daily architecture tours of Luis Barragán’s masterworks in Mexico City.

Travel in a classic Beetle convertible or vintage VW bus, with a licensed architect as your guide, to follow the trail and discover the works of Luis Barragán, one of Mexico’s most influential figures in Modern architecture. From the Cuadra San Cristóbal and Casa Gilardi to Casa Prieto López and Las Capuchinas convent, The Traveling Beetle offers architecture buffs more ways than ever to discover or rediscover the father of “Emotional Architecture”. Starting this October, The Traveling Beetle will increase the frequency of its private and small group tours so that travelers intrigued by architecture have more opportunities to gain insight into the life and work of architect and Pritzker laureate, Luis Barragán. The Traveling Beetle’s Luis Barragán Tour will now be available daily, either on a private or small group basis, and with a prior booking only. It will feature two different itineraries: a northern route with the visit of the Satélite Towers (Torres de Satélite), Fountain of the Lovers (Fuente de los Amantes), the Cuadra San Cristóbal and Casa Gilardi) and a southern one which includes the Covent of Las Capuchinas (Convento de las Capuchinas), Casa Prieto Lopez and Casa Gilardi. Both tours offer the option of a visit to Casa Barragán and a picnic lunch prepared by one of Mexico’s top caterers.“We have been running these tours for architects and designers from across the world for a number of years now”, explains The Traveling Beetle’s owner and operator, Nicolas Caillens, “but there now appears to be a growing interest in Barragán’s work from a broader range of visitors”. Caillens, an architecture aficionado himself, adds: “Of all the architects that emerged from the modernist movement, Barragán is perhaps the one who brought the most warmth, intimacy and serenity to his work, creating a distinctive style of his own. Stepping foot in La Cuadra San Cristóbal is an incredibly moving experience. Imagine traveling to another universe with a cute vintage VW as a space shuttle!”The Luis Barragán Tour, or rather tours, as there are two, last approximately 8 hours and start at $195.00 per guest on a shared tour basis, and $225.00 USD per person on a private basis. These rates include all access fees to the private properties visited, transportation in a funky, iconic, but impeccably-restored, Volkswagen and a licensed architect as your guide. For more information on The Luis Barragán Tour and other architecture tours organized by The Traveling Beetle, please contact Roberto or Nicolas at +52 1 55 40 90 48 32 in Mexico, +1 646 593 8877 in the U.S. or at media@thetravelingbeetle.com
