The Mr. LA Leather Contest in its present form dates back to 2000 as a regional title, representing the Los Angeles Leather/BDSM Community. This year we are proud to have 12 local qualifying contests who will each send a contestant to compete for Mr. LA Leather 2018. Each of these “feeder” contests are produced by local businesses and organizations, which demonstrate the diversity of the local leather community. The winner of Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2018 will go on to represent Los Angeles at the International Mr. Leather Contest in Chicago, IL over Memorial Day Weekend 2018. The 1st Runner-Up has the option to represent Los Angeles at American Brotherhood Weekend, also in Chicago, later in the fall.
At the November 2017 General Meeting of the LALC, its Community Partners confirmed a panel of 9 judges for the Mr. LA Leather Contest. This year’s panel is the most diverse that has been seen in the 19-year history of the contest. The selection process was altered slightly to reflect added community participation, where the community at-large submitted 51 nominations of local, regional and international leaders in the Leather/BDSM Communities. Of those names the Community Partners narrowed that list down to 9 finalists, which the LALC Board of Directors recommended to impanel. A formal release of the panel will be completed in a future release.
