James H. Brown’s commitment to seriously injured persons and their families comes from firsthand experience. James was diagnosed with a rare hip alignment at an early age of seven and had to spend a year in a wheelchair. But that didn't stop him from playing for Edmonton Oil Kings hockey team in the 1963 Memorial Cup Champion.

His dream of becoming a professional hockey player was shattered when he suffered a broken neck in a head-on collision with a drunk driver at the age of 19. This experience acted as the driving force behind starting his own Personal Injury Law Firm.

Salvatore Grillo graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1982 and was called to the bar in 1984. He founded Grillo Law Personal Injury Lawyers in 1985, with a goal to help the community with legal issues. "I came to Canada when I was 13 years old and have always been taught to help others who are in need," he says.

This inspired him to pursue personal injury because he wanted to help injured and vulnerable victims against insurance companies and wanted to make a positive difference in their lives. "Knowing I can provide comfort and reassurance to my clients is what pushes me to continue on," Salvatore explains.

"One of the most difficult cases I have appeared for and won was for a 64-year-old male," he says, "He was involved in a motor vehicle accident, where the at-fault party made a left turn and collided with our client’s vehicle.

The client initially had soft tissue injuries and little income loss. But after some time, they found that the client had sustained a severe spinal cord injury, which resulted in surgery. "The insurance company involved continued to deny various benefits and treatment plans for the client, but we were able to have these decisions reversed once we were able to deem the client to have a catastrophic impairment," he explains.

The accident benefits claim lasted approximately two years, with a successful result of a $785,000 settlement from the insurance company. And throughout the time, they kept constant communication with the client, assisting and guiding him in every step.
