The Children’s Healing Institute is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $300,000 three-year grant from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust and a $52,000 one-year grant as renewed support from The Jim Moran Foundation for the Parent Aide Program.
The Children’s Healing Institute Parent Aide Program, an evidence-based model, provides weekly in-home mentoring to parents to keep families intact and ensure children are safe in their own homes. Some children grow up in distressed environments with ill-equipped, under supported, or isolated parents unable to meet the basic needs of safety, security, and stability. This compromises children's health, development, and learning and contributes to what is now defined as "Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)." These experiences shape young children into the adults they will become and have a lifelong impact on their health and wellbeing. Parent Aide equips parents with the resources, skills, and confidence to parent in a safe and nurturing manner, leading to healthier family relationships and the safety and wellbeing of children.
“In 2017, 1216 children in Palm Beach County were victims of verified child abuse and neglect, most of them under the age of 13. If we are going to make a lasting difference for children, we need to support and equip their parents the best way possible. We are so grateful for The Jim Moran Foundation and the William R.
