SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, announced a partnership with 70 Million Jobs to advance its national Fair Chance Hiring initiative, Getting Talent Back to Work.
SHRM is encouraging individuals and organizations across industries to take the Getting Talent Back to Work pledge, a commitment to consider people who have been formerly incarcerated in their hiring strategies.
70 Million Jobs, the first national, for-profit employment platform for people with criminal backgrounds, has created a marketplace that enables employers to access the one-in-three Americans in the job market who have some kind of criminal record. The company operates a job board (70MillionJobs.com) and a staffing/recruiting firm (70MillionStaffing.com).
“SHRM has done an excellent job in educating its membership as to the quality hires available among the formerly incarcerated,” said Richard Bronson, 70 Million Jobs’ founder and CEO. “With unemployment at historic lows, smart HR professionals recognize they can no longer afford to ignore any large pool of labor.”
Since its public launch in 2017, 70 Million Jobs’ community has grown to support more than 10 million formerly incarcerated men and women, and has facilitated employment for thousands, nationwide. The company has worked with some of the country’s largest employers, including Berkshire Hathaway, Uber, Perdue, Denny’s, MOD Pizza and many others.
