jopippins drops the single “Tattoos” in advance of album release
“It’s an honor to be compared to Travis Scott, but I do have my own sound and message,” said Jordan Pippins, known professionally as jopippins.
“Overall, I would describe my music as a cross between hip-hop and alternative rock,” jopippins said. “I have been playing the guitar since I was four. Nirvana and King Krule have always influenced my sound, while artists like Childish Gambino and Tyler, the Creator influenced my lyrics.”
When you listen to “Tattoos,” the first single off jopippins’ upcoming album, you immediately hear his sound influence in the intro guitar riff. Tyler Clerkin of Earmilk compares the riff as if it came straight from Van Halen himself.
“Tattoos is not about getting inked but I rhyme about how money is tattooed on my mind,” jopippins said. “Whether you want to admit it or not, money is on everyone’s mind most of the time – how to get more of it, spend it, save it.”
jopippins is a versatile musician who produced the instrumental. Clerkin of Earmilk continued to describe “Tattoos’” tight drums and nice steady bassline. Clerkin added “with jopippins vocals on top, you got yourself a hit. Tattoos is the perfect track to get your summer started.”
“Tattoos” is available on all streaming services including Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud and Google Play.
