A CASE OF DAVID VS. GOLIATH AND THE LOCAL VS. THE CORPORATE

07/09/2019 08:00 - United States, Georgia, Atlanta - (PR Distribution™)

As Bubba Macs Seeks to Empower Georgia Communities with Small Business Opportunities,
Corporate Goliaths Seek to Slay the Business!

Bubba Mac's Restaurant of Douglasville, Georgia has served Douglas, Paulding, Carroll, and Fulton Counties and residents in the states of Alabama and Tennessee for over twenty years. In April of 2018, its founder David McDonald, affectionately called "Bubba Mac", unfortunately succumb to health issues, and the restaurant was closed. Family, friends, public servants, and community leaders have all rallied to keep the Bubba Mac’s dream alive since his passing and reopened the facility in December of 2018. Travelers throughout the south on the I-20 Corridor, as well as local residents from near and far journey to Douglasville, 5620 Fairburn Rd, to get its unique Philly cheese steak subs, nine different flavors of wings, its huge explosion burgers, and delicious sea food meals. Bubba Mac's has a  5-star rating on Yelp, Facebook 4.6, Trip Advisor 4.5, and Google 4.2 social media ranking systems.

David McDonald's original Bubba Mac's Restaurant was brought under new management and business structure. Its facility and menu were enhanced by its cooking staff, and its current location was poised to be the national training center for U.S. expansion as a paradigm changing national cooperative (a type of franchise) for entrepreneurs. This past May, Bubba Mac’s hosted a countywide $2,000 in prizes “Academic Excellence in Education” drawing for students in the Douglas County Public School System and was gearing up to support numerous community programs in Georgia and beyond. However, after only six months of being back in business, the return of old patrons and new ones as well, another crisis has developed.

Tragically, two weeks ago, without any forewarning or professional courtesy afforded to us by the new property owners, the rug has been pulled from under the local "Bubba Mac's legacy's" feet. Bishop Clarence B. Harris, president of Bubba Mac's Gourmet Foods, was informed just five weeks before the end of their current lease, that it WOULD NOT be renewed.

This devastating blow, just a little more than a year after "Mac's" death. A shrewd outside corporate conglomerate (newly formed, Atlanta-based, BD Douglasville, LLC) , who had acquired the property five months ago, has sabotaged and put Bubba Mac's, one of Douglasville's finest local and family enterprises, out of operations once again.

With no alternative location, and less than four weeks before the termination of their current lease (July 31), its management team, officers, and family members are seeking help from the Georgia business community and local patrons to support this local small business by assisting them to secure another location immediately.

A Go-Fund-Me campaign has been launched to help in the transition and will be used 100% to acquire, secure, and launch a suitable facility with essential equipment to resume operations. We are seeking to raise $200,000 by August 1st, 2019.  Please call 706-224-8697 to assist. FUNDS CAN BE DIRECTED TO THIS EFFORT AT:
