The American Leader Spotlights the Protection of Voting Rights

Arlington, VA: The American Leader diligently educates and enlightens the public about issues and events that impact this nation, its people, and the democratic process. One core focus of this online publication is American voting rights.

This nonprofit strives to drive positive results through responsible journalism. Rather than report on or merely repeat stories and events that overwhelm the news cycle, The American Leader dives beneath the surface to give greater context to current events, reporting on the progress being made to solve our systemic problems. In addition, the website spotlights the deep bench of community leaders who are addressing those issues and advancing innovative solutions to make change. Click here to read more.

The American Leader launched on Election Day in 2019 to offer the public a deeper view of societal problems and concerns, what some visionaries are doing to solve them, and ways citizens can get involved and help make things better.

A recent Solutions Journalism Network research survey confirms that "People prefer journalism that focuses on solutions rather than problems."

The right to vote in America is one of the systemic problems that The American Leader works to address. These rights were not originally intended for women, former slaves and their descendants, native peoples, and other people of color, and the right of many of these people to vote has come under attack in recent years. Education and knowledge and a persistent focus on the problem are vital to defending the right of all citizens to vote.

To help people better understand some of the ways voting rights are under attack, The American Leader provides a historical look at the expansion of voting rights in America, and at the state of voting rights today.

The website’s coverage includes several updates on voting rights-related changes and legal challenges, including Georgia's new voting law and California's Prop 17, restoring voting rights to parolees, and profiles on Americans committed to supporting our democratic electoral system.

George Linzer launched The American Leader to provide that unrelenting attention to the protection of voting rights and efforts to address the climate crisis, manage the nation’s finances, and provide access to healthcare. Mr. Linzer has previously founded a communications firm that helped the US EPA launch its Energy Star program, and created Lab Tests Online, the leading resource for patient education on medical tests. He has also worked with several mission-driven organizations and consulted with notable consumer media companies. His extensive background in the information sector drove him to launch The American Leader to cut through distortions and diversions of the 24/7 news cycle to deliver essential information needed to advance problem-solving.

The American Leader’s goal is not just to document the history and current events that move the needle of progress, but also to inspire more Americans to get involved in the solutions.

"We are a nation built on solving problems. It’s in our DNA. But not everyone can act in the same way. So we connect our audience with third-party tools and resources that make it easy to get involved at whatever level your time, financial, and emotional resources allow,” Linzer explained. “That’s how democracy is supposed to work. It’s what ‘government by the people means."
