Heartland Homes of Florida announced today that it is offering affordable, new single-family homes starting at $132,900. These homes are being built on lots near the Port LaBelle Marina and are designed to provide the new owners with many amenities previously regarded as "upgrades". Three- and four-bedroom homes are available and most include two-car garages, granite counters, wood cabinetry, and are designed to complement today's active lifestyles. More than 25 homes were sold in 2017 with more on the way.

According to the builder, Shawn Longaker, "Most areas around Southwest Florida simply have no affordable housing. Our plan is to change that so the typical working family - as well as retirees - have an affordable option when it comes to their home. We chose Port LaBelle due to its relaxed, laid-back country lifestyle, its friendly local community, access to the
Caloosahatchee River, and the proximity to local work and play activities. You can unwind and relax in your new home and still be less than 30 minutes from nearly anywhere you need to be."

Although the homes are being built with affordability in mind, that doesn't mean Heartland is skimping on construction. These homes are concrete block construction with impact-resistant windows and were specifically designed to withstand hurricane-force winds up to 160 MPH. These building standards, coupled with energy efficiencies, provide real savings on
homeowner's insurance and utility bills.

The homes are being built on existing lots, so development costs are kept to a minimum and the savings are passed on to the homeowner. Since they aren't being built using the typical "community" process, there aren't any homeowner's association fees to add to the cost.

Retirees and locals alike are finding that they prefer the peace and quiet that comes with rural living while still having access to world-class beaches, shopping, and dining. LaBelle is centrally located a short drive away, without the traffic congestion of living in a resort town.

"Another thing that makes LaBelle the ideal location for these homes is access to the Isabella Curtis Scholarship for graduates of LaBelle High School. This scholarship provides two years tuition and books to Florida SouthWestern College for LaBelle High School graduates. That's a great help to any working family trying to help their children make the most
of their education," said Longaker.

The timing of this project couldn't be better. As real estate prices have rebounded, many prospective homeowners have been priced out of the market and higher rents have put increasing strain on their budgets. The widening of State Road 80 makes for quicker access to both Florida coasts and an abundance of outdoor activities gives residents access to many
traditional activities, such as boating, fishing, hunting, and bird watching. Hiking and biking trails add to the experience for locals of all ages.
