Alfred W. Schlesinger, Music Business Attorney and Manager has died at his residence in Woodland Hills, California at age 94.
The Recording Academy and his son, Robert confirmed his death in a statement but did not elaborate. He said the family appreciated all of the calls, flowers and support. Services will be forthcoming.
Schlesinger, a past president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, was instrumental in creating the GRAMMY AWARDS Telecast. He was a past president of the California Copyright Conference and dedicated his life to assisting recording artists, musicians’ publishers, singers and songwriters.
His prominent career as a music business attorney spanned over 50 years. He represented notable artists such as the Beach Boys, Jim Morrison, Ike and Tina Turner, Bread, Toto, Al Jarreau, Clint Black, Buck Owens, Melissa Etheridge, Jackie DeShannon, Maranatha Music and many others.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
