Increasing numbers of couples are choosing intimate elopements over lavish, expensive weddings
In a trend evolving past traditional weddings, many couples are choosing elopement over the pomp and circumstance of a large ceremony and reception and flocking to Minnesota’s North Shore.
Smaller, more intimate ceremonies - which may include just the couple or a handful of select attendees - are on the rise at a number of Northern Minnesota resorts and hotels, including the Cotton Mansion in Duluth. A small ceremony or elopement can offer many of the same details of a traditional wedding, like exchanging of vows, various ceremonies, music, and more. Many venues including resorts, bed and breakfasts and hotels have packages that include an officiant, photographer and more, so couples can easily choose what is included in their elopement ceremony.
“Working with the venue, you can choose what elements you want to be included so it feels tailored and special to you,” added Aparicio. “It really takes the pressure of planning off, so the couple can focus on each other, and all they need to do is show up and say ‘I do.’”
