"BACK TO THE FUTURE 2” THEMED FLOAT FEATURED IN THE HUNTINGTON BEACH 4th OF JULY PARADE TO PROMOTE PARKINSON'S RESEARCH FOR THE MICHAEL J. FOX FOUNDATION

06/19/2019 05:00 - United States, California, Huntington Beach - (PR Distribution™)

Orange County company Green Panther Ventures, will be organizing a fundraiser for Team Fox – the community fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research – with a movie-themed parade float at the Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade, in Huntington Beach, CA. The parade begins at 10:00 am and goes to 12:00 pm, Thursday, July 4th, on Main Street. The event is free, and all ages are welcome. The event attracts over 500,000 attendees each year.

The parade float theme is based on the 80’s classic movie starring Michael J Fox, Back To The Future 2. Numerous Delorean cars will be featured, including a replica Delorean from the movie leading the float. Back to The Future themed actors will be reenacting various movie scenes, as they attempt to fix the space-time continuum. Headlining the float will be a live music performance by renowned local 80’s cover band, Flashback Heart Attack, performing “Power of Love,” from the movie soundtrack as well as other 80’s classics.

Organizer, Matt Green of Green Panther Ventures said, “In 2017, our event team won the Best Float Award and created an incredible buzz with our crazy Ferris Bueller’ Day Off theme. So, this year, our team wanted to find a good cause to rally behind and take it to the next level. What better way to raise awareness for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research than a parade on our national holiday. When we heard it was also the 30th Anniversary of Back to the Future 2, we knew we had to do this." Green added, “We are asking for your support with a $19.89 donation, 1989 was the release date of Back To The Future 2. It’s guaranteed to be 1.21 Gigiwatts worth of family fun and for a worthy cause.” Donations can be made at https://fundraise.michaeljfox.org/tf-2019/paradeteam.Companies looking to co-sponsor this event can contact Matt Green at [email protected].

Donations for the fundraiser go directly to Team Fox – the community fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. MJFF is the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research and pursues its goals through an aggressively funded, highly targeted research program. Since inception, the Foundation has invested more than $800 million in research to date toward accelerating a cure for Parkinson’s disease and improved therapies for those living with the condition today.

Over five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease, a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder whose symptoms typically progress from mild tremors to complete physical incapacitation. In the United States, an estimated 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. Current treatments mask symptoms but do not alter or slow disease progression.
