Atlanta, GA – September 16, 2020–100 Black Men of America, Inc.’s Barbershop “Taking a Cut Out of Life” traveling tour series will be presented as a youth power forum on the final day of 100 Black Men of America, Inc.’s Virtual Conference. The forum will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020, from       12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.

This Power Forum is themed “Taking a Cut Out of Life” and is a continuation of The 100’s tour that began at the 33rdAnnual Conference in Las Vegas. The 100 Black Men of America’s Barbershop has since made stops in cities across the 100’s network of chapters including Washington, DC, Detroit, MI, Oakland, CA and St. Louis, MO.  This conference will allow the tour to be presented virtually, providing an opportunity for increased visibility.

The 100 Barbershop was birthed from the experiences of so many African American males.  From youth to adulthood, the barbershop has always served somewhat of a cultural rite of passage where wisdom is shared from generation to the next. While the Barbershop is the backdrop for the event, this is a               multi-generational event for boys, girls, men and women.  Relevant information will be shared with all who participate.  Emmy award winning journalist, Ed Gordonwill moderate this event and will be joined by panelists:

  • Chaka Zulu, Head of Artist and Talent Relations, Spotify
  • Stedman Graham, Author, Speaker, and Entrepreneur, Stedman Graham Associates, Inc.
  • Paul “P.J.” Hill, Financial Advisor, Wells Fargo Advisors
  • Major General Kevin Vereen, U.S. Army Recruiting Command

“Every Black man can speak to the familiar scene of the barbershop where they feel comfortable and confident to discuss the issues of the community with one another.  I remember being in those spaces during my youth and absorbing the wisdom that poured from the lips of the elders.  The Barbershop is where we go to really get the pulse of the community.  We started these events in response to the urgent need to deliver real solutions.  I am so proud of the outcomes of these events and humbled by the assistance of our partners and sponsors who support and participate in this initiative,” stated Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., Chairman, 100 Black Men of America, Inc.

This session is free, and the public can access it on Facebook, YouTube or on the 100’s website at 100blackmen.org.  The public can RSVP hereto secure a spot and to receive ongoing conference updates.
