Carolyn Royer Spencer, Co-Author & Illustrator of Senor Smarty Pantaloons and the Mystery of the Missing Teachers; Lord Computesalot, Ruler of Aurora Bullyalis, and His Secret Quest to End Bullying; Lord Computesalot’s Quintessential Quest to Banish Bullies; was just recently selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for 2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the industry.

Carolyn is being recognized for this honor for dedicating close to 30 years of her life to educating children and for her efforts to put an end to bullying. With a magnitude of professional experience teaching Title 1 Kindergarten and Kindergarten, First, and Second grades in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Carolyn has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Carolyn has demonstrated success not only with her teaching career, but also with her art and inspiring her students to be creative.Carolyn’s second degree is in visual arts K-12.The recently published works in this series focus on the topic of bullying, a growing epidemic that is rampant in our schools, worksites, online media, and pretty much everywhere. Carolyn’s published works are an excellent resource for anyone who works with children especially teachers, guidance counselors, parents, grandparents etc.In addition to writing, Carolyn and her co-author spoke on radio interviews about their anti-bullying books, and host anti-bullying assemblies and readings at local schools.It is her sincere wish to show how bullying affects all ages and how destructive it can be to an individual’s physical and psychological well-being.Her illustrations are meant to help children think and reflect on this crucial subject and to develop empathy and compassion for others.
Carolyn received her Bachelor of Science Degrees from Old Dominion University in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and in Visual Arts. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Carolyn for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.She is talented, humble, gracious, and brilliant at what she does.We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization and feel that when it comes to bullying, it is an international problem that needs to be addressed and should be given an international platform.We are looking forward to meeting her at the gala and know we will be seeing more amazing things from this special lady.”
Throughout her career Carolyn has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2019 Carolyn will grace the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals ) Magazine and she was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).For 2018 she was selected as Top Children’s Author of the Year by IAOTP and Outstanding Professional of the Year by the International Society of Business Leaders, Bristol Who’s Who, Madison Who’s Who and Continental Who’s Who. She was also honored with the designation “Career Teacher” when she was teaching in Virginia Beach. The most recent book “Lord Computesalot, Ruler of Aurora Bullyalis, and His Secret Quest to End Bullying has been featured in “The Daily News,” and received Honorable Mention at the 2013 J M Northern Halloween Book Festival in Hollywood.All three of her anti-bullying books have been featured in “The Virginian Pilot” newspaper and the Close-Up Newsletter.Along with her co-author Regina Davis, she was featured in a series of radio interviews with Jim Masters of Close-Up TV/News Radio. Carolyn is a Board Member of the Cape Charles Historical Society on the Eastern Shore and is active with her church and helps local children’s hospitals.She is also an active member of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Looking back, Carolyn attributes her success to her training, her perseverance, passion for what she does, and support from her family and mentors she has had along the way.Her son David, daughter Jill, and granddaughter Leah De Carlis have always been supportive of her endeavors. She grew her love of art from her beloved father, Richard Royer.Her grandmother, also named Leah, and wonderful mother, Doris Royer, inspired her love of cooking and culinary art.Her son David inspired her artwork with his creativity.
