09/05/2019 01:24 - KENWOOD, CA - (PR Distribution™)

Charles N.W. Schlangen, Owner and Manager of Montedulce, LLC and Board Vice President of the Clarion Music Society, was recently selected as Top Philanthropist of the Year for 2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.

While inclusion in the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements. www.iaotp.com/award-gala

With over two decades of professional experience as an entrepreneur, proprietor and philanthropist, Charlie has certainly proven himself as an extraordinary professional and expert in many fields.  He is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only as a philanthropist and business owner but in every position he has ever held. Charlie’s key areas of expertise include but are not limited to: Fundraising, Commercial and Residential Real Estate; International Relations; Legal Studies; Credit and Securities; and Investments. His impressive repertoire of prior roles have included: Attorney for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and President of Plaza Escuela Holding Co., LLC (a commercial real estate development and investment company).

Currently his time is principally occupied as owner and manager of Montedulce, a stunning estate that he runs as a high-end, luxury vacation rental and event venue in the Sonoma County Wine Country.  The secluded, private 24-acre property has 13 acres of vineyard that produces premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, a pool, tennis court, a large main house with elegantly appointed and spacious public rooms, chef’s kitchen, and five bedrooms.  It is an ideal location for a corporate retreat, team meeting, or preferred client/customer/vendor event.

Charlie is deeply committed to the communities in which he lives and has a particular passion for giving back to the arts, education, and international relations and understanding. In addition to serving as the Board Vice President of the Clarion Music Society—New York’s premier period instrument and Early Music orchestra and choir, for five years he also has served as the annual Gala Chair, raising several hundred thousand dollars in support of The Clarion Music Society’s mission to educate the next generation of Early Music instrumentalists and vocalists and to enrich the international music community with performances of seldom-heard compositions and familiar pieces which are played in a historically informed manner and can act as a vehicle for promoting global goodwill and collaboration.  The two recordings resulting from these extraordinary performances have garnered two Grammy nominations.  Simultaneously, he served for almost a decade on the board of the Santa Rosa Symphony, eventually becoming its President in 2012 when it became the resident orchestra of the newly built Green Music Center.  Charlie has also served as Vice-Chair and continues to be an active member of the Council of Fellows for the Morgan Library and Museum.

Throughout his illustrious career, Charlie has received awards, accolades, and has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and philanthropic efforts. For 2020, he is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals Magazine), and is also being considered for the Business Innovator of the Year Award.  He will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala, being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for his selection as Top Philanthropist of the Year for 2019.

Charlie received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in International Relations from Stanford University with Departmental Honors and Academic Distinction and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was the first recipient of the Bell, Boyd, and Lloyd Best Advocates Award for the the outstanding legal brief in his class. He speaks 5 languages: Chinese, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Stephanie Cirami, President of IAOTP stated, “Choosing Charlie for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make.  Charlie has tremendous foresight, extensive knowledge, is brilliant at what he does and was exactly what we were looking for.  We are truly honored to have him as our Top Philanthropist of the Year and we are looking forward to celebrate his success at this year’s gala.”

Looking back, Charlie attributes his success to his education, mentors he had along the way and staying passionate in all his business endeavors.  Charlie says he has been blessed and therefore tries to embody the philosophy that of those to whom much is given, much is required.  He loves doing what he is doing and feels this is just the beginning. When not working, he enjoys traveling, acting, and singing opera. For the future, he hopes to continue making a difference in people’s lives any way that he can.
