Crean Lutheran has chosen Hellas for the installation of the Private Christian High School’s new athletic field located in Orange County, California. The products being installed at Crean Lutheran Athletic Sports Complex are Hellas Matrix®Turf with Helix Technology, Geo Plus™ Organic infill and Cushdrain®Shock Pad.
The Saints are excited to proudly represent “The Crean Way” by having Hellas supply the school with cutting-edge turf technology for its athletic facility. Crean Lutheran Athletic Director Eric Olson said, “I’m stoked that we were able to use Hellas. You could tell from the get-go to the end that it was pure professionalism.”
After evaluating the market for artificial turfs, Hellas was Crean Lutheran’s top choice. School officials were looking for a new playing surface for its football, lacrosse, and soccer teams; However, Olson stresses that the field will not only assist the school’s athletic programs, but it will be “open to the community for youth sports to improve Crean Lutheran’s local outreach.”
Officials at Crean Lutheran will introduce Matrix with Helix technology to the school’s playing fields, the same turf material used by the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. Helix technology brings memory and tenacity that allows the turf to bounce back after use. The Helix feature consists of shape memory technology that is added during the manufacturing process, allowing each fiber to curl in order to secure the infill. The curled monofilament fibers in Crean Lutheran’s new turf will give the Saints a uniform, aesthetically pleasing playing surface. The Matrix Turf with Helix has a unique shape and design that makes it the most resilient, stable, and durable monofilament fiber in the market.
Crean Lutheran school officials also chose Hellas’ Geo Plus organic infill over the traditionally-selected black crumb rubber that is widely used throughout the country. Geo Plus Organic infill is made from cork and coconut fibers, ensuring optimal shock absorption and excellent control in all weather conditions, all while being 100% organic and recyclable. The infill is UV resistant to deterioration on high temperatures, retaining moisture to make the field surface temperature up to 40° cooler.
The Cushdrainshock pad being installed at Crean Lutheran will improve shock absorption, providing student-athletes optimal protection from concussions. Made of non-toxic components, the elastic layer will improve the drainage of the Saints’ turf, minimizing downtime by heavy rains.
