Today, at the StartUp Health Festival at JP Morgan - Curatio, the world's first social health prescription, announced a new partnership with Dr. Brendan Byrne and Wellness Garage. The new partnership will provide free, private, and personalized prevention and treatment programs for diabetes support.
Diabetes affects 22.1% of Canada's population, and in 2016 was the direct cause of 1.6 million deaths worldwide. Lifestyle measures can be taken to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. Diabetes can also be managed through a combination of diet and physical activity, along with lowering blood glucose and levels of other known risk factors. By taking into consideration the individual lifestyles and needs of patients, Curatio and Dr. Byrne are working to create personalized, private patient groups to overcome diabetes in a completely novel way.
"As a society, we are starting to understand the detrimental and costly impact that isolation has on health outcomes and wellbeing. No patient should be alone when managing a health condition. Curatio helps partners deliver private, social, patient support programs that combine personalized support with daily disease management for an all-in-one solution that drives better health outcomes and most importantly, better lives," said Lynda Brown-Ganzert, founder and CEO of Curatio.
Curatio provides peer support, trusted information and programs for individuals with health challenges. By combining matchmaking technology, curated content and easy-to-use disease tracking tools, Curatio puts health empowerment in the hands of patients.
Curatio has found that social support is the missing link in healthcare, with 75% of its initial users already showing improved health behaviors and 80% increased interest in personal health management. With Curatio, patients have a community and lifeline to professional medical advice, straight from their personal device, which fills the gap between in-hospital support group sessions.
Curatio is free to download on iOS and Android. The platform is also available for licensing to hospitals, healthcare providers, payers, pharmaceutical companies, government and NGOs in a white label or sponsorship model. Licensors can integrate the platform with existing programs, or use as its own private social network. With Curatio, licensors can curate branded digital content, build relationships with patients, and measure aggregate patient data to better understand population health. Through this use case, Curatio not only increases medication and care plan adherence, but also provides cost savings for hospitals. Curatio has MSAs in place with global pharmaceutical companies, is live in 80+ countries and available in 4 languages.
