Dr. Kelly James, Owner of Dr. Kelly A. James-Foundational Solutions, PLLC, was just recently selected as Top Mental Health Care Professional of the Year for 2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.

With over two decades of professional experience in the mental health field, Dr. James has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Dr. James has demonstrated success not only as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor, Certified Professional Coach, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional, Certified Body Code Practitioner, and Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, but in every position she has ever held. Her impressive repertoire of prior roles have included; Therapist for Hillcrest Therapeutic Foster Care and Life Connection Counseling Private Practice, Adjunct Professor for Southern Nazarene University, Associate Professor of Oral Roberts University and Owner of Dr. Kelly A. James Foundational Solutions, PLLC. Dr. James worked for 10 years with children in DHS custody, five years in traditional foster care, and five years with children in Therapeutic Foster Care. She also worked for two years on a pilot project with Dr. Bruce Perry, Child Trauma Academy, designing and implementing Dr. Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics in the Head Start Program.
Dr. James key areas of expertise include but are not limited to: providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents and adults, EMDR Therapy, Play Therapy, Vocational Guidance, Child and Adolescent Development, Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Advanced Play Therapy, helping individuals who have experienced trauma, aiding with parenting skills and working with children with challenging behaviors such as ADHD, Anger Issues, Divorce, etc.
Dr. James earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arkansas, two Master’s Degrees as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapy from Oral Roberts University, and her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, EMDR Therapy Trained, Certified Body Code Practitioner, Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor, National Certified Counselor and Certified Professional Coach.

Throughout her career Dr. James has received awards, accolades and has been recognized for her outstanding leadership and commitment to those she served. For 2019 she is being considered for the Empowered Women of the Year Award and was selected as Top Mental Health Care Professional of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).She is also being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel for her selection as Top Mental Health Care Professional Of The Year.
Aside from her successful career, Dr. James is also a published author and sought after lecturer and public speaker. She co-authored the book “Why Aren’t You Over This By Now?” Dr. James is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society for counselors and counselor educators, a member of Oklahoma Counseling Association (OCA), Oklahoma Christian Counseling Association, Oklahoma Mental Health Counselor Association, as well as Past-President of the Oklahoma Play Therapy (OKAPT) Division of OCA, a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), Past President of Oklahoma Association for Play Therapy (OKAPT), a member of the American Counseling Association, a member of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), a member of Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES), and a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society.
Looking back, Dr. James attributes her success to her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way, and her passion for helping people.
