Paul J. Davis, M.D., Professor for the Department of Medicine at Albany Medical College and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy for the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was just recently selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.
While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members are selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award. These special honorees are distinguished based on their longevity in their fields, their contributions they have made to society and the impact they had on their industries. Dr. Davis is being recognized for this honor for having close to 6 decades of professional experience as a seasoned and trusted Professor and Doctor. Dr. Davis has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field of Endocrinology. He has demonstrated success not only as a Professor for the Department of Medicine at Albany Medical College and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy for the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, but in all of his prior positions. His impressive repertoire of prior roles have included Vice Chairman for the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo; Head of the Endocrinology Division for Baltimore City Hospitals and University at Buffalo; Chief of Medical Service for the VA Western New York Healthcare System for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs; Chairman for the Department of Medicine, Albany Medical College for the Albany Medical Center and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research at Albany Medical College, Albany Medical Center. Dr. Davis also holds a seat with the national advisory council of the Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University, and serves on the external reviewer panel of the Chernobyl Tissue Bank maintained by the European Union. He is regarded by his peers as one of the nation’s best Endocrinologists of our time and he is best known for his research into the mechanisms and action of thyroid hormones and the effects of aging on the endocrine function.
Dr. Davis received his B.A from Westminster College which he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and he received his MD from Harvard University which he graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Davis was a Resident in Medicine from the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center which is now NYC Health and Hospitals/ Jacobi.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Davis has been active in his community and recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment in the fields of Endocrinology and Pharmacology. He has received many awards, accolades and has been featured in numerous publications multiple years in a row such as Marquis Who’s Who, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World. For 2019, Dr. Davis is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). For 2018 he was selected as Top Endocrine Pharmacologist of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) and in 2003 he received the Distinguished Service Award by the American Thyroid Association. Dr. Davis has belonged to numerous professional affiliations and memberships. Some of the most noted have been President for the American Thyroid Association; Governor of Upstate NY Region for the American College of Physicians; President of the NY Chapter of the American College of Physicians; The Gerontological Society of America; the American Federation for Medical Research; American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; on the Board of Directors for the American Thyroid Association; Endocrine Society; Board of Science Couselors, National Institute on Aging, and the National Institutes of Health.
Aside from his successful career as a Professor, Dr. Davis is also a sought after lecturer, speaker, Editor and Contributor to Medical Literature. In 2000 he was named as a Trustee of Westminster College as one of its prominent graduates, and is the former editor-in-chief of Immunology, Endocrine and Metabolic Agents in Medicinal Chemistry. Since 2004, Dr. Davis has also worked as secretary editor of Current Opinion in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Obesity.
Looking back, Dr. Davis attributes his success to his experience, education, mentors he has had along the way and staying passionate in all his endeavors. Dr. Davis says he has been blessed, he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning. When he is not working Dr. Davis enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. For the future Dr. Davis hopes to continue to make a difference in people’s lives anyway that he can.
