During The Holiday Season, Dr. Michael Everest And Danny Trejo Spread Joy Among Front-line Workers Of East LA Community

2021-01-23 09:00:00 - United States, California, Los Angeles - (PR Distribution™)

This holiday season, Dr. Michael Everest and veteran actor Danny Trejo again showed their deep commitment to the L.A. communities, this time by hosting a food donation program meant for the front-line health workers and their families from East Los Angeles. The event, organized at the Civic Center, donated food to more than 800 families through a drive-up food giveaway program.

The event has been the latest in a series of similar outreach programs organized by The Everest Foundation. This not-for-profit organization actively supports and promotes cutting-edge medical research and education in the country, in collaboration with Danny Trejo and his famous LA restaurant, Trejo's Tacos.

Earlier in 2020, Dr. Everest and Danny Trejo had hosted similar food donation programs for homeless U.S. vets living at the Westside VA campus and for several underprivileged communities in the city of Los Angeles.

Regarding the initiative, Trejo mentioned in a post on his Instagram profile that the last year has been a difficult one for pretty much all of us, but especially for healthcare workers and the less fortunate and vulnerable communities living in LA and elsewhere. He added that he considers himself fortunate that he can bring some relief to these communities’ members through the events organized by Dr. Everest and his restaurant.

The actor had lately opened up and discussed in detail his various past struggles, including his tough battle with drug addiction. He also talked in length about how several different entities and supportive individuals had helped him overcome those struggles. The famous actor added that he always feels that he must give back to the community whenever he can.

Dr. Michael Everest gave voice to similar sentiments when he spoke to a local NBC outlet during the event. The noted philanthropist and physician mentioned that the event was their way to express their deep gratitude to the East L.A. Community’s front-line workers. The latter has worked extremely hard this past year amid the pandemic. He also thanked Mr. Trejo for his contribution. He added that the foundation is happy about this latest collaboration as this provides it with the opportunity to give back to the community.

Apart from taking part in these outreach programs, The Everest Foundation, on each of these occasions, has made sure that the efforts to support these vulnerable communities remain sustainable ones and not merely one-off events.

During the very first of these programs, which was hosted at the Kedren Community Health Center, the foundation donated a generous sum of money to the Center so that it can keep up its work to help the members of various underserved communities in LA during the difficult times of the pandemic. On that occasion, Dr. Rahn Bailey, in charge of the outpatient center at Kedren, expressed his thanks to Dr. Michael Everest and his foundation, saying that this type of sincere and wholehearted community support was needed to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic.

By the time Dr. Michael Everest and Danny Trejo organized their food donation program to homeless U.S. vets at the Westside VA, The Everest Foundation had already initiated its unique 'Exoskeleton Program.' According to reports, the program was founded to aid advanced orthopedics research aimed primarily to help and possibly cure U.S. war veterans afflicted with spinal cord injuries. Under the program, research was started at the New York Bronx VA (where the foundation made its first donation). It later spread to several other notable Veteran Administration facilities across the country, proving that The Everest Foundation is working to give back to those that have sacrificed so much for our nation.
