eBooks2go’s latest science fiction novel covers a family’s daring rescue mission inside a virtual reality game.
eBooks2go, an Illinois-based publisher for self-publishing authors, is announcing the release of Charring Cross’ debut science fiction novel “I, Drive: Primeblades”; an action-packed novel for teens where game over is not an option.
Ulrich Vanes, the main character of Cross’ novel, despised his sister Jenna. Their personalities clashed and they could never get along. Ulrich was an introverted gamer, while Jenna was the popular cheerleader at their school. One day, Jenna slips into a coma and is rushed into the hospital. Going about his daily routine, Ulrich begins playing his favorite game: Primeblades Online. Suddenly, the game is interrupted by a man who claims to be one of Primeblades’ designers and presents Ulrich with some startling news, “Jenna Vanes is trapped in Primeblades online.”
Ulrich is now forced to take on a dangerous rescue mission with his friends to defeat a hacker and save his sister’s life.
Inspired by his favorite childhood shows, Cross wanted to add a modern touch to a popular sci-fi plot. “I was mostly inspired by the storyline ‘you die in the game, you die for real.’ I just wanted to put a twist on it.”
While he claims his writing was influenced by television, Cross is actually a second-generation author. His father published two science fiction novels of his own.
Cross’ parents recognized early on that writing was in his blood. Cross said, “My parents told me that I had a healthy imagination in middle school.”
