Seasoned Professional Engineer Joins Cleantech Company Ushering in the Carbonless Future of Environmental Cleanup

ecoSPEARS, a cleantech solutions company with transformative NASA-developed environmental cleanup technologies, announced today that Michael J. Dickey is joining the company as Director of Applied Technologies. Dickey brings over 20 years of environmental engineering experience, including remedial project design and managing teams to complete large-scale cleanup projects.

Dickey was most recently employed with Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC as Lead Environmental Engineer, where he directed projects related to environmental, civil, and geotechnical engineering. Prior to his time at Foth, Dickey worked for Golder Associates, Inc. and Golder Construction Services, Inc. for over 15 years under a multitude of advanced positions including Project Engineer, Jacksonville Operations Manager, and Senior Engineer. Throughout his career with Golder, Dickey oversaw the implementation and execution of environmental pilot studies and remedial construction activities across numerous contaminated upland and sediment sites, including those co-contaminated with heavy metals, hydrocarbons, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins and other Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the ecoSPEARS team,” Dickey said. “When you have a talented team with that kind of creativity, grit and passion for solving challenging goals, especially legacy contamination issues, amazing things will happen. ecoSPEARS is blazing a new path forward in the environmental industry by designing and developing cost-effective and sustainable remediation technologies. I feel honored to join them on the journey of ushering the carbonless future of environmental remediation.”

In 2014, Dickey worked as Golder Associates, Inc.’s lead Senior Engineer who conducted an environmental pilot study to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the NASA-patented Sorbent Polymer Extraction And Remediation System (SPEARS) technology at an impacted site in Ontario, Canada. SPEARS is ecoSPEARS’ namesake technology for which the company holds an exclusive license from NASA.

ecoSPEARS creates environmental solutions that are founded on green cleanup principles; principles which Dickey has shown to exhibit throughout his career as a proponent and implementer of leading innovative environmental remediation technologies. ecoSPEARS CEO & President, Sergie Albino, says that Dickey’s expertise in designing greener cleanup plans will prove invaluable to the company’s mission of protecting human health.

“Finding innovative environmental engineers with as much project experience as Mike is truly unique,” said Albino, when asked on Dickey’s onboarding. “Mike has a tremendous knowledge base when it comes to remedial methods. His proficiency will be crucial to our continued designing and development of cost-effective and sustainable cleanup solutions that the industry desperately needs.”

Dickey was a Conference Chair at the 2019 Battelle Sediments Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a 40-Hour HAZWOPER certified and licensed professional engineer in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, as well as Canada. He received his B.S. in Geological Engineering and B.S. in Geology & Geophysics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1999 and received a Professional Certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford University in 2014.
