“I love the whole connection and bonding with the family,” said Brereton who has worked with autistic children as well as children with cerebral palsy. At Erin’s Care with Compassion, Brereton offers care to for individuals of all ages and believes that “people have a better quality of life when they are able to stay in their own home.”
Caring for others comes naturally to Brereton who has extensive experience with providing basic care services including: Conversation and companionship, Safety supervision, Meal preparation, Medication reminders, Social activities, Light housekeeping, Exercise/Physical activities, Laundry and linen changes; experience with providing personal care services: Bathing, Dressing, Toileting; and experience with providing health & medical services: Wound Care, Pain Management, IV Therapy/Injections, Diabetic Care, Central Line Care and Ostomy Care. Brereton also has training with emotional support dogs and offers dog therapy to my clients if they so choose.
Brereton’s medical journey began with a nursing degree from Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES where she graduated with honours receiving the Best Clinical Performance. Additionally, she holds CPR certification and is AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certified.
Brereton maintains excellent references and attributes her professional success to her passion. She strongly believes the quality of life, for any person of any age, increases when they are cared for in their own environment versus a cold, uncaring, uncomfortable facility where all is unknown and often scary to them.
She has witnessed many of our precious elderly in facilities alone and very lonely. Homecare places one on one care for them and most importantly the individuals are able to stay in the environment there most comfortable in as their home is there safety net. Another great aspect of homecare is it allows people to keep their pet, which often can be there lifeline.
