Executive Greg Dyer Joins Aspetto to Grow Enterprise IT Division, Bridge Public-Private Tech Sectors

2021-05-20 15:00:00 - United States, Virginia, Fredericksburg - (PR Distribution™)

CHARLESTON, SC, May 20, 2021 – Innovative technology solutions provider Aspetto welcomes Greg Dyer as the company’s new Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). While Aspetto is widely known for its ballistic-resistant clothing and wearable armor technologies, Dyer’s objective is to enhance and grow the company’s Enterprise IT Division, which provides services such as software and mobile application development, data analytics, cybersecurity, and systems engineering for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Civilian (FedCiv) markets.

Dyer was previously the CSO and Managing Partner of Spinvi Consulting. Like Aspetto, Spinvi was an 8(a) company—specializing in IT solutions for FedCiv customers and the DoD. There, Dyer developed and executed a corporate strategy, leading to the company’s successful sale in 2020. During Greg’s tenure, in 2019 and 2020, Spinvi was ranked as the number-one small business for the U.S. Navy’s Seaport-e and Seaport NxG contract vehicles, which Bloomberg Government describes as having “more company competition volatility than most other multiple-award contracts in the federal market.” In those same years, Dyer’s Spinvi was also rated as one of the top three Naval Information Warfare Center - Atlantic prime contractors. The company was also named one of Forbes’ “America's Best Startup Employers”, awarded to American businesses meeting Forbes’ employer reputation, employee satisfaction and growth criteria.

Now, as CSO of Aspetto, Dyer is leveraging his strategic expertise to grow the company’s enterprise-level IT offering and position Aspetto as a leader in the DoD and FedCiv space.

“What attracted me to Aspetto was the disruptive, entrepreneurial spirit of CEO Abbas Haider, COO Rob Davis and the rest of the leadership team,” says Dyer, who, in addition to his role as a managing partner for Spinvi, also served in senior executive roles within numerous small and large businesses, such as CACI International. “My role is to channel that entrepreneurial spirit and make Aspetto the leader of enterprise IT products and services in America’s DoD and FedCiv market.”

Part of Dyer’s strategy is to bridge the gap between the federal government and private “non-traditional” or “commercial” tech companies. In the past, tech startups have struggled to meet the demanding requirements of the federal government’s contract strategies. This has often curbed the government’s ability to quickly leverage the technological capabilities of the commercial start-up sector. However, as national security becomes increasingly intertwined with Information Technology—from wearable/mobile tech to cybersecurity—the government has developed strategies to tap into the disruptive innovation, speed and creativity of the tech-startup industry.

“Aspetto is helping build the bridge between the public and the private sectors,” Dyer says. The company recently partnered with the Charleston Digital Corridor (CDC), a South Carolina-based commercial incubator consisting of 97 (and growing) technology startups. In order to bridge the public-private gap, Aspetto is spearheading a strategy between the CDC and technology driven departments within the DoD, creating connections between the federal government and the tech startup community.

“This gives the government access to newly developed and innovative tech at an early stage. At the end of the day, that means better national security and, potentially, lives saved.”

Aspetto recently opened a Charleston office. The new location, which houses the company’s IT Division, is strategically positioned to capitalize on the innovations coming out of the Charleston Digital Corridor while coordinating with the Department of Defense.

“Aspetto was built on ingenuity and entrepreneurship,” says Founder and CEO Abbas Haider, who, along with COO Rob Davis, was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30. “Our goal is to leverage our successful wearable and mobile technologies and expand into enterprise IT and cybersecurity services. Greg is the strategic force making that happen.

“With him on our team, Aspetto is an organization you want to keep an eye on—whether you’re a potential partner or a competitor.”
