Inventory purchasing softwareprovider Thrive Technologies recently announced that salad producer Fresh Express has adopted the Thrive Inventory Replenishment System. Inventory replenishment, also known as stock replenishment, refers to the process of evaluating the current levels of inventory daily versus upcoming demand, in order to calculate how much more to order. Thrive’s Inventory Replenishment software measures its progress toward the client’s inventory goals, which is a functionality that businesses don’t get from their enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Fresh Express needed a way to take their existing forecasts and evaluate the on-hands at vendor sites and their own production plants to order additional supply as needed; an out-of-stock would halt production which was not an option.
“Fresh Express created the produce category of bagged salads, producing nearly forty million pounds of salad monthly. They use our Inventory Replenishment System to optimally stock and replenish the film used to bag all the Fresh Express salads,” explained Thrive Technologies CEO Rick Morris.
Thrive’s inventory replenishment software is a powerful tool that helps clients manage changing demand and supply variables, putting them in control of their inventory costs and service levels. In addition to helping Fresh Express become more proactive, Thrive also provides the company with analyzed tiered pricing based on volume buys. In addition, Thrive highlights order costs that are above budgeted costs.
“Fresh Express provides price tiers depending on how much film they buy from certain vendors, and our system automatically adjusts the price based on the quantity; which saves them time and prevents errors,” explained Morris. “Our system also stores their budgeted price and highlight the costs and alerts planners when the budget is exceeded.”
