From Stoners to High Performance: How Cannabis and Hemp Have Changed Over the Last 5 Years

2021-04-13 16:00:00 - United States - (PR Distribution™)

What do you picture when you think of the word “marijuana”? Red-eyed teenagers, incapacitated on a sofa, devouring brownies and chips? A few years ago, most people all assumed hemp, marijuana, and cannabis to all be the same thing and associated those terms with stoners. But now, things are changing. As the industry evolved, so did the products and their effects. Due to a new discovery in THC compounds, The “stoner” stereotype is being replaced with that of the high performance individual.

Introducing Delta 8 THC

You may have heard about Delta 8 THC by now but maybe you’re not quite sure about how it’s practically used.

What makes Delta 8 THC special is that it offers a more mild “high”, just like that of delta 9 THC (what most people are used to smoking/consuming) but without the physical or cognitive impairment. As many user reviews state, this helps consumers focus, concentrate, be more productive and more easily “get in the zone”.

Thus, high-performance individuals tend to enjoy Delta 8 THC products like gummies and tinctures more than other types of psychoactive compounds.

The Difference Between Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC

THC stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol and it is the most common cannabinoid with psychoactive components. The most common type of THC is Delta 9 THC. When you think of the stoner stereotype, think of Delta 9 THC.

For a long time, scientists knew that there were other forms of THC but could not find ways to extract them in commercially available quantities. However, with technological developments, a new form of THC became available: Delta 8 THC.

Delta 8 THC is different from Delta 9 THC in 3 Ways:

Borrowed from: https://freshbros.com/blog/not-all-thc-is-equal-delta9-vs-delta8-thc/

  • Molecular: On a molecular level Delta 9 THC has a double bond on the 9th carbon chain whereas Delta 8 THC has a double bond on the 8th carbon chain. Despite this being a seemingly small difference, it yields big results.
  • Availability: Delta 8 THC is less abundant than Delta 9 THC in the marijuana / cannabis plant - only with recent technological advances have we been able to isolate Delta 8 THC for it to be publicly available.
  • Experience: Delta 8 THC has been shown to give a similar "high" to Delta 9 THC but with less severe side-effects. The high produced by Delta 8 THC (in comparison to Delta 9 THC - which is the most common THC) is described as "less intense, gentle, enjoyable and manageable".  On a more practical level, the highs from Delta 8 THC are found to have less functionality-impairing effects.

Re-defining What Hemp Products Are

There’s a growing movement in the hemp industry to help people understand that hemp products are not only a means of relaxation and enjoyment, they’re also something that can be used to be productive. This movement is now spearheaded by Adam Rahman, who’s family started farming hemp and has now grown into one of the largest manufacturers of Delta 8 THC distillate and finished products.

Through their company Fresh Bros, they’ve created the D8LTA brand - a line of hemp-based products infused with Delta 8 THC. Additionally, they are one of the largest suppliers of delta 8 distillate to other vendors looking to make their own Delta 8 products. By providing quality materials and the education consumers need, Fresh Bros believes that their mission could redefine the public opinion of hemp over the next few years.
