Austin, TX May 12, 2020 - For 24 years, The Gathering of Angels brought together young, entrepreneurial companies seeking seed and early stage capital with seasoned accredited angel investors. The monthly GOA meetings were held across the country from Washington DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Hilton Head Island, Jacksonville, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Scottsdale, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The luncheon and dinner meetings hosted by GOA produced more than 400 capital fundings ranging from $20k to $38.5M.
In March 2020, with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent countrywide lockdowns, the Gathering of Angels face-to-face meetings pivoted to begin utilizing the Zoom platform to play matchmaker between angel investors and the start-up entrepreneurs seeking capital.
Unique and novel to Gathering of Angels, accredited angel investors, venture capitalists and investment bankers attend the GOA forums at no charge to them. Unlike similar groups around the country which charge quarterly or annual dues of $2,000-$10,000 for membership, GOA offers access to deal flow and presentation pitch meetings twice monthly on the Zoom platform at no charge to the potential investors. All GOA presenters are screened, vetted, curated and practiced before they go into the GOA Zoom meetings. Presenters pitches are now viewed by angel investors from all over the USA.
GOA’s angel Investors are not just exposed to local offerings, but companies that present at Gathering of Angels meetings come from all over the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Angel investors participate at no cost but give their time and if they see a company of investment interest, they perform due diligence and make individual investment judgements and are not constrained by group decision making or group think. GOA administrative costs, website presence, hosting and preparation are covered by the entrepreneurial companies seeking capital. This GOA model is approved by the SEC and GOA does not take a percentage or success fee on any amount of capital raised and is not by choice a Broker-Dealer.
