Harch Inc Launches Website Zenbird to Promote Social Good from Japan

Web media company Harch Inc will officially launch the website Zenbird on 2 April to promote social good ideas from Japan.

The problem Zenbird wants to solve

Japan faces many social challenges such as aging population, social security crisis, economic stagnation, gender gap and income inequality. On the other hand, many local Japanese communities practice creative solutions to solve these problems. Unfortunately, these solutions are relatively unknown outside of Japan because the communities have difficulty overcoming the language barrier needed for publicity and recognition.

Harch Inc has therefore launched the English-based website Zenbird. It will promote social good ideas from Japan to the world, while helping local businesses and communities create business opportunities and attract foreign tourists. Zenbird also aims to bolster interest in the creative, relevant and economic solutions that Japanese communities are deploying. These include a “Thank You” economy based on blockchain technology, a unique “ethical hotel” reviving sustainable living, and a zero-waste village attracting young social entrepreneurs.

Zenbird follows the footsteps of its sister site, IDEAS FOR GOOD (https://ideasforgood.jp/), which is the Japanese site introducing social good from around the world to the Japanese. It will carry the success formula of IDEAS FOR GOOD to raise publicity of Japanese non-profit and non-governmental organisations (NPOs and NGOs) for an international appeal.

How Zenbird will benefit Japanese organizations, readers and media

1) Currently the only web media in the world focusing on social good in Japan.

Even though Japan lacks no coverage in various media, its local projects and products still lack recognition, especially in English mediums. Zenbird intends to fill the gap of information for these local efforts.

2) Bridging the gap between Japanese social good news and relevant news media.

Japanese NPOs and NGOs are often unable to overcome the language barrier. Zenbird will cover news, interviews and reports for these organizations in English, while allowing other media to pick up news relevant to them.

3) Inspiring global and local change-makers with new ideas.

As 2030 approaches, there are still some efforts that can use a boost to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Zenbird wants to galvanize these change-makers to inject new ideas, with the solutions inspired from Japanese communities.
