Innovative national Covington Curriculum Conference returns to Connecticut in June

03/18/2019 10:00 - HAMDEN, CT - (PR Distribution™)

The national Covington Curriculum Conference is returning to Connecticut this summer. Hosted in Stamford, Connecticut by Connecticut Women’s Consortium, the highly acclaimed, biannual conference provides facilitator training in addiction and trauma recovery group models for women, men, and girls in community and correctional settings.

Dr. Stephanie Covington is a clinician, author, organizational consultant, and lecturer.  Internationally recognized for her pioneering work in women's issues, Dr. Covington specializes in the development and implementation of gender-responsive and trauma-informed services in both the public and private sectors. She has also served on the Advisory Council for Women’s Services for SAMHSA and was the featured consultant and therapist on the Oprah Winfrey Network docu-reality show entitled Breaking Down the Bars.

Over the course of the conference, behavioral health providers will take a deep dive through one of Dr. Covington’s manualized treatment programs, be introduced to her brief trauma group interventions, and receive tips for implementing these curricula within their workplace. This unique conference provides professional networking opportunities and optional evening events focused on women’s experiences with the criminal justice system and addiction recovery.

This multiday conference is designed for counselors, therapists, social workers, clinical supervisors, and peer specialists. Dr. Covington and her certified trainers will be available throughout the conference for additional guidance.

The Covington Curriculum Conference will be held June 4 – 6, 2019 at Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center. For more details and registration, visit http://www.covingtonconference.com.
