International Knowledge Alliance established to address Global Health Challenge
2019 Global Health Industry Knowledge Alliance Roundtable Forum, Beijing
More than three hundred government officials, representatives of International Organizations, academicians, experts and scholars from scientific research institutions from 30 countries gathered in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on 7 December to discuss global health challenges and perspectives of development of the health industry. The Global Health Industry Knowledge Alliance Roundtable Forum aimed to initiate sharing knowledge, policies, best practices for developing healthcare services and health industry. As Mr. Tu Zhitao, Director of Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pointed out that health industry is facing both major opportunities and challenges, which requires concerted efforts of the international community. The Global T/CM and Health Knowledge Alliance shall connect with the entire industrial chain of health, promote cross-border, cross-disciplinary cooperation to facilitate the transformation of healthcare and health industry including Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Keynote speakers of the Forum reiterated the importance of defining the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in addressing health challenges. Leading officials from Chinese and foreign cities talked about the need to develop better understanding of the TCM and working out integrative solutions to provide affordable, more efficient, high quality health services to people around the world. Sustainable development of the health industry through enhanced trade in services as well as the importance of capacity building and professional training have also been discussed during the Forum.
The high-level event was opened by Mrs. He Luli, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People’s Congress and sponsored by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Beijing Municipal People's Government of Chaoyang District, Beijing Municipal People's Government of Shijingshan District.
