MONROE, NJ — Pen Paper Press is pleased to announce the release of its first book, Moe Fields, a gripping narrative about a father’s fighting spirit and his determination to save his family and inspire his sons to succeed. The story is a touching tribute to author Stuart Z. Goldstein’s late father.

“Goldstein applies his gift of storytelling to bring us Moe Fields, a compelling story about a father’s extraordinary work ethic and indomitable spirit in the face of adversity,” wrote Andy Polansky, the executive chairman at Weber Shandwick, in the book’s foreword.

Since the e-book was introduced on Amazon in late-April, it was ranked in the top 25 of 100 hot new releases on fatherhood, and has reached as high as No. 5.

Goldstein tells the story of his father’s difficult childhood during the Great Depression. As a teen, Moe Fields is inspired to become a boxer, eventually competing in the 1932 Golden Gloves tournament. He later becomes a bootleg fighter in Brooklyn to make money to support his family. Then, off to WWII as a sailor on a ship used to plan the invasion of southern France and the Yalta conference, where an encounter with FDR leaves a lasting impression.

When a health crisis threatens his life and a drunk driver causes a horrific car accident crippling his wife, Moe digs deep to turn tragedy into triumph. His three sons, who grew up with the trauma of witnessing their parents face uncertainty and suffering, are inspired by Moe’s determination.

“As a fighter you understand, everyone gets knocked down,” Moe says in the book. “It’s what you do at that point which defines your character.”

“I lost my dad more than 20 years ago and am now the proud father of two young men. This treasure of a book reminds us all about the importance of keeping family memories and traditions alive through generations. It is a poignant and thought-provoking memoir that captures the enduring power of role models in our lives,” Polansky wrote.

Moe Fields celebrates the strength of family, faith and the enduring legacy we leave our children — values that are more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic, while many folks are far away from family and loved ones.

“We all have our Moe Fields,” Goldstein writes.

Moe Fields is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other outlets in the U.S., Europe and Asia as an e-book, paperback or hardcover book.

Goldstein, 70, was one of the longest-serving PR spokespeople on Wall Street. He served as managing director of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs for the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) in New York, the largest trade clearing house ($5 trillion daily) and central securities depository in the world.

Goldstein has co-authored two books that explain the inner workings of U.S. Capital Markets, as well as numerous articles in PR trade magazines. His byline on public policy issues has appeared in newspapers such as USA Today, the Washington Times, the Star-Ledger, Trenton Times and Global Financial Markets magazine.
