With over 13 years of professional experience as a highly qualified educator, Kayla has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Kayla has demonstrated success not only as an Internationally Awarded Educator but as an Entrepreneur, Innovator, CEO, Global Keynote Speaker, Author and Education Task Force Leader.
Kayla’s impressive areas of expertise and specialties include but are not limited to Classroom Design and Flexible Seating (Kayla pioneered these methods), Reimagining the Role of Teachers and Students using the Best Practices in Education, Implementing Purposeful Technology Tools, Genius Hour Implementation and Social Media for Staff and Students.
Before embarking her current career path, Kayla attended the University of North Dakota and earned a Master of Elementary Education and Teaching in 2007. Throughout her illustrious career, Kayla has received numerous awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. This year she will be considered for a Front Cover feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and will be honored as Top Educator of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). For 2021 she will be considered for the Educator of the Decade Award and to be broadcasted on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square. Kayla has been recognized by the Governor of North Dakota and was assigned a chair on North Dakota’s Innovative Education Task Force. She received the University of North Dakota Sioux Award, which is the highest honor of achievement offered by her University. Additionally, in 2018 she was named both an “ISTE Influencer” and “HarperCollins Publishing Influencer”. The Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) of the United States named Kayla as 1 in 30 “All-Star Digital Innovators” and Who’s Who in America has awarded her for her contributions to Education. She is a two-time (2017 and 2019) Global Hundred honoree, being 1 out of 100 of the most innovative educators in the world. In 2019 Kayla was awarded as North Dakota’s Teacher of the Year and Mrs. West Fargo International. The New York Times named her “One of the Tech-Savviest Teachers in the United States”.
Aside from her remarkable career, Kayla is a sought-after international keynote speaker who has appeared on TEDx Talk, spoken at Twitter Headquarters and she travels around the United States and has visited other countries to deliver hundreds of keynotes to her audiences. Her renowned work with classroom redesign and flexible seating has become a global standard in education. She is currently writing a book on this topic, which is set to release sometime this year. Kayla has co-authored the best-selling book “Education Write now” and “10 Perspectives on Learning in Education” which is available now on Amazon.com.
Looking back, Kayla attributes her success to her lifelong love of learning, mentors with whom she has had the honor of collaborating with and her constant drive to remain passionate in all of her endeavors. When not working, she enjoys golf, travelling, reading, and spending time with her family. For the future, she hopes to continue making an impact on her community, teachers, students and parents worldwide through her innovative and effective learning methods and ideas.
