Live Purple Recognizes Mental Health Awareness Week with IAHNBO Partnership

10/12/2018 08:00 - SEATTLE, WA - (PR Distribution™)

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Weekthe International Association for Health and Nutrition Business Owners (IAHNBO) and Live Purple are proud to announce its charitable partnership and are excited to work together to raise awareness and prevention of substance misuse. As such – the IAHNBO is donating $2 to Live Purple for every monthly $27.00 paid subscription. Donations will be used to impact local communities by funding events, educational programs, and supplies like our Home Safety Kits.

"We have a responsibility to be a part of the solution, and we do that by our commitment to and partnership with Live Purple,” said IAHNBO Founder and President Lisza Crisalle. “They are doing the work every day, changing lives through education and tools to encourage healthier and active lives in teens and young adults dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues."

Since its initial launch, the IAHNBO set a goal of giving back to the community by donating funds to a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of healthy lifestyles. After researching several organizations, Live Purple proved to be a perfect fit.

Our innovative approach of addressing inactivity and mental health attracted IAHNBO to Live Purple. Through this partnership, Live Purple and IAHNBO will collaborate on additional efforts to raise awareness and garner conversations about substance abuse.

“Live Purple is proud to partner with IAHNBO to help further the mission to educate people about nutrition and fitness,” said Live Purple Founder Chris Finch. “We are excited to see this network of health and fitness professionals develop to have a great impact on the world.”

Facts About Substance Abuse

Drug-related fatalities are now the #1 killer of Americans under the age of 50. There are many risk factors with substance use disorders. Two of the biggest are mental health and physical inactivity.

  • 90% of addiction begins before the age of 18, often with drugs found in the home.
  • 59,000+ Americans lost their lives to drug overdose in 2016. Nearly 10x as many as were lost in the Iraq, and Afghanistan Wars combined.
  • 83% of high school students do not get the recommended amount of physical activity, and inactivity can be linked to risk factors of substance abuse.
