May 2021, Atlanta GA - This month, team members at New Acquisitions, a local advertising and marketing firm in the Atlanta area, are getting the chance to take part in benefitting the Our House local charity which is devoted to helping end homelessness. This foundation is important to so many people in the Atlanta area due to the fact there are roughly 3,200 homeless men and women in the city.
Jon Smith from the New Acquisitions team was able to organize this event by making flyers and persuading employees to bring in supplies commonly found in any home such as Clorox wipes, hand soap and diapers. Prince Davies, Co-Director at New Acquisitions, stated “Being able to give back to those in need helps you achieve a greater sense of personal satisfaction and growth. It feels good to help others and be affiliated with a company that does.” New Acquisitions has constantly worked to give back to the community despite all the hardships COVID-19 has brought.
Our House’s team offers tailored case management and support services to families with children experiencing chronic or near chronic homelessness; and unaccompanied youth and young adults (with or without children) experiencing homelessness. The Our House team will be part in the City of Atlanta’s Coronavirus Relief Fund COVID Recovery Rapid Re-Housing Initiative this year. The initiative is part of an ambitious $24.1 million dollar effort to stabilize housing for 2,000 households in Atlanta, including 800 households through Rapid Re-Housing, and 1,200 households through Diversion. New Acquisitions is honored to be able to give back to the city of Atlanta in such a big way.
The President of the Our House Association stated, “We are truly grateful to participate in this partnership and to help connect more area families with the shelter and support they need to live and thrive.” Since January of this year, 15 families supported by Our House have successfully moved into their own apartments (each with 1-year leases). Our House is now working with 23 more families currently going through the re-housing process. New Acquisitions is honored to be able to give back to the city of Atlanta in such a big way.
