April 27, 2021 | Giving back to the community is a significant part of New Acquisitions’ company culture. In the past, they’ve showcased this by teaming up with multiple organizations to find ways to benefit their local businesses and citizens. From food drives to golf tournaments, the company remains eager to partner with any organization whose purpose is to help those in need. Last month the company teamed up with “Totes to Tots” to donate book bags and suitcases to children in the foster care system.
Totes to Tots is a program whose mission is to ensure that every child in Georgia’s foster care system has a backpack or suitcase of their own to transport their belongings. Foster children are often forced to carry their belongings in trash bags when moving to a new home because they don’t own real luggage - that is where Totes to Tots comes in. The program started in 2002 and has collected and distributed over 60,000 bags to more than 14,000 foster children within Georgia's foster care system. Through their partnership with the Georgia Division of Family & Children’s Services, this is one of the largest charitable organizations in the Atlanta area.
The New Acquisitions team was proud to contribute donations to an organization that shares their commitment to giving back to communities in need. Over the course of April, over thirty bags were donated and collected from the employees. “A dear friend of mine who grew up in foster homes mentioned the program to me. She told me stories about growing up in the foster care system and it inspired me. I figured if we could make a little change in the life of kids, why not help out as much as we can,” said Juan Ramirez, a New Acquisitions team member who organized the event.
Despite the setbacks and obstacles that COVID-19 has brought, New Acquisitions has worked hard to continue to give back to the community any way they can. Andrew Barger, Co-Director at New Acquisitions, stated “We partner with a charitable organization here every month. Whether it be helping children, giving back to the homeless, organizing food drives, and the list goes on and on, we just want to do our part to help. I want to give a special thanks to Juan Ramirez for setting this charity up and to the community of Atlanta for embracing us as a local business.”
As New Acquisitions continues to give back, we will continue to keep an eye out for the next charity event and the actions they take to continue to give back to Atlanta in the near future.
