On September 22nd, Auctions at Showplace will present choice selections of fine art, furniture, silver, jewelry, and decorative arts all fresh to the market from New York City estates. 

Coinciding with Asian Art Week in New York, the sale will feature an Indian Pala-Type carved black basalt stele with central four arm Buddha figure, a Chinese Export hand-painted gouache on paper six-panel folding screen with exotic birds and insects, a pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Gu-form celadon vases with blue and white interlace motif, a Japanese bronze incense burner with dragons and phoenixes, a pair of Chinese Canton rose medallion palace vases measuring 61 inches high, two famille rose porcelain garden seats, a Qing silk embroidery court rank badge, and a selection of Chinese porcelain and Japanese bronze table lamps.

Direct from a private 5th Avenue collection are three KPM porcelain plaques including “La Retour de la Pelerinage a la Madone de l’Arc” after Robert Leopold, “Hagar and Ishmael in the Desert” after Emanuel Krescenc Liska, and a mother and child scene after Emil Teschendorff. Other Continental porcelain plaques include three depicting lush bouquets of flowers, and a fourth with verdant landscape. Another highlight from the same collection is a 19th century Italian Grand Tour micromosaic plaque depicting a pastoral scene with a goatherd and his wife surrounded by animals. 

Superlative Continental furniture hitting the auction block includes a pair of Louis XVI giltwood fauteuils, a pair of Neoclassical Egyptian Revival parcel gilt arm chairs, a set of six Italian Rococo style side chairs ornately carved with masque decoration, a Neoclassical style pietra dura round top game table with figural ebonized metal base, and a Black Forest carved hall tree with bear motifs. 

Those in search of fine jewelry will find a 22K yellow gold and rubies hinged bangle bracelet, an opera length pearl necklace bearing 18K and diamond clasp, a pair of 22K yellow gold and amethyst earrings, a cocktail ring with large central emerald surround by round and pear-cut diamonds, and an 18K braided yellow gold necklace with four diamonds set near the clasp. Luxury timepieces include a Rolex oyster perpetual superlative stainless steel chronometer wristwatch with champagne dial, a Rolex Tudor Prince Tiger stainless steel chronograph wristwatch, an Omega two-tone stainless steel date watch, and an Omega “Constellation” automatic chronometer gold filled watch.

Robust offerings of fine silver includes a pair of Puiforcat French two-branch candelabra, a pair of Baroque style Russian silver candelabra, 78 pieces of Wallace “Sir Christopher’’ sterling flatware, and an assortment of Judaica silver including kiddush cups, menorahs and Shabbat candlesticks. Furthermore, the sale will begin with eight silver cigarette cases decorated with images of erotic female nudes finely rendered in enamel. 

Other exciting items to be offered: four Daum France pate de verre leaf-form art glass platters, six Spanish Colonial oil paintings depicting Mary and saints, designer handbags by Barry Kieselstein-Cord, Chanel, and Judith Leiber, and much more.
