SAN FRANCISCO (JULY 06, 2020) -- NexHealth, a Patient Experience Management Platform, announced today it has secured $15M in Series A funding. This financing was sourced from a number of experienced tech executives including Naval Ravikant of AngelList, Scott Belsky, founder of Behance, and Josh Buckley, Chairman of Clearbit.
With this funding, NexHealth will introduce their universal Electronic Health Record (EHR) API, solving long-standing integration difficulties for healthcare innovators and allowing for a new wave of healthcare technology development to unfold.
Through this API, developers can connect to more than 45 EHRs through a single, unified interface, with support for 100 EHRs expected by the end of 2020.
Federal incentives to adopt Electronic Health Records facilitated by the HITECH Act of 2009 ushered in a wave of product innovation, but little focus was given to the interoperability and connectivity between EHRs and third party applications. More than a decade later, the EHR market remains highly fragmented with thousands of products that are difficult to integrate with. That is the glaring hole in the market NexHealth is rising to fill. The universal EHR API will help developers in the Healthcare space innovate faster, make it much easier for practices to run smoothly, and ultimately improve the patient experience in ways that are currently difficult for most Healthcare companies.
“Our mission at NexHealth is to build the operating system for people, doctors, and healthcare developers,” says NexHealth CEO Alamin Uddin. “But, creating and marketing such an ambitious operational framework in an industry as complex as healthcare requires ambitious investors.”
Not only will this funding accelerate their product roadmap, it comes with a deeper relationship with many accomplished leaders in the tech industry.
“We wanted to surround ourselves with strong operators and founders in the early days of this massive project, focusing on investors who are ‘Big Mission’ driven and sincerely understand the importance of what we are doing,” says Uddin.
The new API will allow more healthcare companies to deliver the modern experience patients expect and the digital experience the COVID-19 pandemic demands.
"Beyond empowering a better experience for patients, NexHealth is building a strong developer ecosystem to enable a new wave of Healthcare apps. As practices are forced to operate remotely during shelter-in-place, NexHealth has become an essential tool for them, accelerating the adoption of the platform," says investor Scott Belsky, founder of Behance.
