With more people dying due to dehydration in the summer than from exposure to cold in the winter in Toronto every year, it was time to come home with a solution to respond to this rapidly growing problem. Project Water was created by Jody Steinhauer in 1999 and has provided Summer Survival Kits along with more than 3 million water bottles to homeless people in the GTA.
Qode Media and Qode Social are proud to announce that they are volunteering for the project this summer through Engage and Change and will help pack the survival kits for distribution. This all takes place on Event Day, when company teams come together to help make a difference in Toronto.
According to Kelly Samuel, Social Media Director of Qode Social, "Giving back to this great city is important to all of our company’s employees and we are proud to send a team in to help with this worthy cause. Homelessness is a social problem that deserves our attention and help."
Summer Survival Kits are assembled and include various necessities for the summer months. Some of the items that have been placed into the kits in the past include hats, sunscreen, lip balm, first aid kits, reusable water bottles, sunglasses and much more. A small donation of $50 helps to provide a summer survival kit and drinking water to an individual in Toronto who really needs it.
