Renate Strelau selected as Top Artist of the Year by IAOTP

Renate Strelau was recently selected as Top Artist of the Year for 2022 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the arts.

 

Inclusion within the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based upon their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. With over 50 years of artist talent, Ms. Strelau has certainly proven herself as an extraordinary historical researcher and an innovative artist. She is a dynamic, results driven leader who has demonstrated success and advancement throughout the entirety of her career. Ms. Strelau immigrated from Germany to Canada in 1959 and in 1960 to the United States, with her parents and brother. Her love for art was cultivated once she arrived.

 

Before she began her career focus, Ms. Strelau started with an undergraduate study at the University of California, Berkeley in 1969. As political dialogue was circulating the Northern California campus, it was then Ms. Strelau began honing her skills and developing her artistic abilities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1974 and she participated in her first solo art exhibition at Berkeley's Cafe Espresso. In 1974, Ms. Strelau began graduate studies at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. and earned Certification of Arabic Language Proficiency (Oral and Written). To gain further understanding of politics, she earned her Master of Arts in U.S. diplomatic history from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1985 and later in 1991 received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting, human figure from the alma mater.

 

Her impressive repertoire of prior positions and artistic collaborations includes Research Assistant at the Iranian Embassy in Washington D.C., where she analyzed world news and wrote features for international audiences and the embassy’s diplomats, from 1976 until 1980. She presented her work at international scholarly conferences in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1995, and in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2007. An international scholarly conference in Portland, Oregon, scheduled her research in 2020 for a presentation on Time in History: China’s Martial Arts, DaVinci’s 1519 Death, and United States Diplomacy. Ms. Strelau’s drawing A Rose is present at the American University Museum.

 

As a well-known artist, Ms. Strelau took her love of traveling and established a relationship between art and international relations. Visiting India, Italy, Morocco, Mexico and Spain influenced her conclusions from her research and her most current work showcases the connections of her art. She is a gifted Portrait Photography artist, and her work was shown in Puttaparthy, India in 2015. Ms. Strelau emphasizes abstract expressionist art of the mid-20th century, centered in New York, as a part of her international relations studies for her research.

 

In addition to her notable historical research and artist talents, Ms. Strelau is trained by world champions; she competed and performed in Shaolin Kung Fu and Wushu at International Martial Arts Tournaments. From 2017 until 2020 she traveled, for instance, to Santa Monica, California, Chicago Illinois, and Boston, Massachusetts, for these recognitions.

 

Furthermore, Ms. Strelau is an active member of the arts community, and she holds memberships with the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians and the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.

 

Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Strelau has received many awards, accolades and was featured in publications for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the arts. This year she will be considered for a feature article in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was chosen as Top Artist of the Year, 2022, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). This year Ms. Strelau will be considered for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award given by IAOTP. In past years, she has been recognized by many Who’s Who organizations for her work and life experiences.

 

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated, “Choosing Ms. Strelau for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is brilliant at what she does, has tremendous foresight and is talented beyond measure. We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization. We are looking forward to meeting her at the Annual Awards Gala.”

 

Looking back, Ms. Strelau attributes her success to her perseverance, her passion for research, her love for travel and to the mentors whom she worked alongside. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. For the future, Ms. Strelau will continue showcasing her artwork and developing her research skills. She hopes to encourage others to take an interest in international relations and the role of art.
