"On this release we will be taking a close look at the Supreme Performance Chip 4.0 and having tested this chip for over 6 months we have plenty to say about this product.
A little over 6 months ago I was looking for a way to make my 2017 F-150 a little faster and more fun to drive without breaking the bank. So I started my search and came across the Supreme Performance Chip 4.0 which seemed to be popular and made by a pretty well known company called Great Lakes Auto Corp. After some initial internet research I found that the chip had some really good reviews and from what I was told it basically did what it was claimed to do or at least close to it.
So I decided to take the plunge and buy the chip, they had a website where it was listed for $130 but I was lucky enough to find them also selling on eBay and running a sale for $71.44 and free shipping too! So in total I paid $71.44 which was well within my budget and I think everybody else's budget too.
After placing my order the chip was sent out the morning of the next day, I received the chip in about 4 days which is reasonable for free shipping, I could have upgraded to priority shipping for an additional $10 which normally takes 2-3 days instead of 4 but I was in no hurry. So the chip came in a nice eBay labelled package which I thought was cool, when I opened the padded envelope I found the chip packaged in a smaller padded envelope (to keep it safe during shipping) as well as a set of instructions. The instructions were simple and straight forward with 6 steps in total.
So I went to my truck and followed the instructions for plugging in the chip, since this is plug-and-play I was finished installation in 3 minutes and didn't need any tools or even have to pop the hood. So now I am sitting there in my truck with a shiny new performance chip ready and willing to tear up the streets with my new found power.
After the chip had a chance to connect with my trucks computer and was ready, to my pleasure, I started to feel the gas pedal being more responsive and it just felt like the truck was itching to go fast. At first I had to concentrate a little on the drive feel the difference in power. I felt a few different things which told me that the chip was working, going 0 to 60 MPH started to feel quicker, when the gas was smashed to the floor it pushed me back into my seat a little more then usual, I felt the transmission shifting smoother and the feel that the gears would change at better times then before. I also felt something which is hard to explain, but it felt like the truck could tow more then before, I guess that has something to do with the extra horsepower my engine has now.
I also noticed that the more I drove with the chip the more and more I felt the difference in power and quickness of the engine and gas pedal. To be honest I wasn't expecting this much of a difference based on the company's description on the chip, I think the company tried to under-promise so they can over-deliver which I think is super cool of them. Also a side note about the company, I spoke with them once by phone and once by messaging them on eBay and they are probably the nicest guys I have encountered on that website. They took the time and effort to completely answer my question very well as when I mentioned I was trying to do some more upgrades on my truck and wasn't sure which ones to do first, they wrote like 5 long paragraphs about all of my options for boosting up power and they even took the time to do research and find the best priced parts for my truck like an exhaust system, cold air intake, etc. I certainly wasn't expecting that much interaction, normally I just get a one or two line response from other customer service reps.
When I had the chip for 2 months my dog (for those of you who care, she's a Beagle) somehow got to the chip and chewed it to oblivion, so when I called and spoke with Evan I told him about story and he was real polite and was able to get me a brand new chip completely free, I offered to pay for shipping but he insisted to pay for everything and those of you who know me know I am not one to refuse free stuff.
I tested my 0-60 MPH time recently and this little chip actually shaved nearly half a second off of it and with considering what I paid I think it holds its own and has pretty good value. I also noticed that my truck idles a little smoother with the chip and seems to start up quicker.
I also tested a claim that the company gave me about the chip leaving no sign of ever being used and doesn't void my warranty. So I took the truck to my favorite Ford dealership here in Washington and before I went in for my service I did what I was suggested to do, I unplugged the chip before I went in and the service techs no idea it was ever installed. When the truck was done with its service all I did was plug it back in and sure enough the chip did its magic and the extra power came back.
When I was on the phone with Evan, I asked him about using the chip for the long-term and how it would effect my truck. He explained that they made this 4.0 version specifically so that it could be used for as long as you would like and be completely safe for the engine.
Overall, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this chip, I got it for a great price from their eBay store and got more then I was promised. For those of you who know me you know that I have never given a perfect score before and I'm not about to change that, so I will give the Supreme Performance Chip 4.0 a In-Depth Review rating of 9.5 out of 10 stars, the reason for the half star subtraction is because my favorite color is blue and their chip only comes in red, sorry everyone but I love my blue too much."
