Canadian Lenders’ Association (CLA), the voice of the innovative business and consumer lending industry, reaffirms its commitment to further transparent and ethical lending to Canadian borrowers nationally.
“As an association that represents key aspects of Canada’s lending ecosystem including: policy, advocacy, standards, and innovation, it is important to renew and reaffirm our commitment to ethical and transparent lending practices regularly with our members and affiliates,” says Gary Schwartz, President and co-founder of the CLA.
All members must agree to act in accordance with the mission and purposes, which include supporting the growth of all aspects of Canada’s lending ecosystem including policy, advocacy, standards, innovation, and the adherence to and promotion of best practices as well as commitment to safe and ethical lending standards. Membership in the CLA sets our lenders and supporting affiliates apart as trusted brands.
The CLA represents Canada’s innovative lending community. All members are vetted and accredited based on their corporate standards and values. Our role is to support the highest level of lending in Canada, servicing a wide spectrum of SME and consumer borrowers' growth requirements.
CLA's goal is to support access to credit in the Canadian marketplace. Approximately 7 million Canadians (25%) do not have access to credit through incumbent lenders and seek access to credit from alternative lenders.
