The number of congregation members of Shincheonji, Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (SCJ) is projected to grow exponentially in the upcoming years. In the past month, the Chairman of SCJ, Man-hee Lee, conducted a nationwide seminar tour in six major cities on the Korean Peninsula and packed the main convention centers with people interested in the Scriptures and about SCJ. In addition to the major cities of Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, SCJ plans for the 12 branch leaders to host seminars in their respective cities. Worldwide Bible seminars lead by church leaders are accommodating people by the hundreds and thousands.
More evidence the church is growing at a rapid rate is the successful completion of their recent graduation. On 10 November 2019, SCJ held a graduation ceremony in the province of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Participants were graduates of the Zion Christian Mission Center, the theological seminary department of the church. The graduation was held simultaneously in three locations due to difficulties of accommodating the massive number of students. The event was also held via livestream for international graduates all around the world. The total graduating number of students becoming official members of the church was 103,764.
The members of Shincheonji year increased by over 100,000 people in 2019. Membership is achieved by obtaining pastoral-level knowledge of the Bible through a rigorous six-month Bible study course. In addition to history and moral teachings, Shincheonji emphasizes the fulfillment of the Scripture’s prophecies. The classes are provided free of cost and open to those who want to delve deep into the Scripture. The graduation standard is high. Candidates must pass an extensive final exam.
After graduation, the seminars commenced and there is no sign of slowing down. SCJ General Assembly Director, Dong Ahn Ko, says, “All SCJ pastors around the world are announcing the era of the harvest and God's eternal reign on the earth.”
